Which is the insulated live cable on the outgoing side of the electric meter ?

HI ALL,

I have been trying to put this thing called energy monitor (as many of you have see and may have at home), I will upload some photos, would any knowledgeable person be able to tell me which is the insulated live cable on the out going side of my meter. now, what is the outgoing side ?....The reason for this query is that, you see the white magnetic like thing, that has to be clamped to that insulated live wire on the out going side of my meter. I hope i am making sense. I do have a smart meter but since 11 months its not work, they been here 6-7 time, no luck, all bull*****e*s.

I thank you and await to hear from someone.

Kind Regards and be safe

AK

It's the one you currently have it on. The brown sleeve and rings with 'L'  on are the giveaway.

    unforeseen is correct.

The 'outgoing' side is the side that goes to the consumer unit. In your case, this is the right-hand side of the meter, and thinking about it, I don't think I have ever seen a meter that have the incoming side (the wires from the mains supply in the street) on the right-hand side so I think it must be a standard that the incoming (supply) side is always on the left and the outgoing (consumer) side is on the right.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

    Hi,
if you already have it set up as in picture, can we assume that it's not working when you need to ask?

Not really. I sincerely had no clue what i was doing but did use my common sense a tiny bit, explored and it worked out correct.  The fact that i am typing this, proves that i did not blow up...hahaha....Now i will read the rest of the manual further and find out how to proceed...
