Car warranty companies

Hi

i brought a car in 2019 with this car i brought a 1 years warranty, near the end of this policy my car had an oil leak which the company after knocking about £250  off the garage price paid the reset they the policy then lapsed and I contacted them asking for quotes for another year i was told i could do a 2 year policy which would give me the same great cover as before but for 2 years this time as it was for not much more money than i paid for the 1 year policy i jumped at it i set up a monthly payment through my credit card  just over a year later the oil leak was back so i go a quote from the garage £1250 but apparently hidden in the terms and conditions it says they will only pay once for any one job so i challenged them and said surly this is per policy and they said no so i ask if i had a issues in year one and had the same thing 6 years later they would not cover this and they said that’s correct surly this should be made clearer all it say is we will not pay more than once for the same repair.

are they able to get away with this could i reclaim my money under section. 75

please any help would be great

  • Probably in the small print but the question is what was the cause of the oil leak and where was the repair carried out.

What sort of warranty applied to the repair? The warranty company may have paid for the repair but the repair itself would carry a warranty. Can you make a claim against that?
  • Unfortunately it was over a year and the original garage said their work only had a year warranty

Ignore what customer services say the warranty covers.  What does the policy document say it covers?

Many warranty companies will try to weasel out of paying any claim, even valid ones.  If you think they are trying it on, start off with opening a formal complaint.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
