Import Duty from South Africa

Hello, hope you all had a good Christmas.
I’m thinking of buying some boots from South Africa. They cost (with delivery) under £135.
The company have said “ Once the boots arrive there may be duties and charges which will be for your account. duties and charges which will be for your account”.
Does anyone please know if there will be a duty or excise charge and if so how much? I’ve tried looking online and am of the view as they are under £135 there shouldn’t be.
I’m just trying to work out if it is cost effective.
Thanks for reading

It'll be VAT at 20%, plus whatever handling fee there is (usually about £10).

Right - thanks very much. So they are about £110 so probably (£22+£10) £32 on top taking them to £142.
Now I know where I stand and can make an educated decision thanks.I’m considering a pair of Jim Green boots. If you read any review they say they are pretty much the best quality boot you can buy for your money. So it might still just be worth it.
Hope you have a happy new year1 -
Check the returns policy of the company. Purchasing from South Africa means their rules/laws will apply, not the distance selling rules for the UK.

So it might still just be worth it.I've read lots of reviews that say they are well made but that Jim Green boots are not very comfortable which rather defeats the object to me.For something so personal and subjective, it's one thing to order online in the UK when you can relatively easily and cheaply return the item but to order from a different country would be too much of a gamble for me - you could just be throwing away £140.Every generation blames the one before...
