Stopping Spotify icon appearing on taskbar, win 10

I don't use Spotify but after a recent Win 10 update, the Spotify icon always appears on my taskbar on start up.

I've tried a couple of web suggestions but they don't work.

I've tried going into Taskbar settings and choosing "select which icons appear on the taskbar" and setting Spotify to 'off'.

Also tried: "Right click on the taskbar then 'Taskbar settings'. Under "Notification area" click on "Select which icons appear on the taskbar" and turn off Spotify."

That doesn't work either because Spotify isn't listed.

Any ideas?

Hold mouse pointer over said icon

Right Click

Click on 'unpin from taskbar'

Also if Win 10 has startup folders, delete that entry, or remove spotify from PC??? I love WinPatrol for stuff like this.

If unpin from taskbar doesn't work, try.. Start..type in msconfig..click on startup...disable Spotify.

Thanks but I tried that too. Works only for the current session. The icon reappears after power off and on.

Yep, might have to remove Spotify altogether. I'll use RevoUninstaller.

OK, I've just done that. Let's see if it works. If not I'll uninstall Spotify.

OK, I've just done that. Let's see if it works. If not I'll uninstall Spotify.

errm why not just uninstall then
