    They do have a complaints process- it is just that we have not been able to access it due to being 'blocked' from going further or being told we had to wait for contact on their side which was promised on several occasions but did not occur.

    It is not incorrect advice as such. Only regulated business are required to have a formal complaints process. Any other company is free to either have or not as they see fit. 
    If they do not then court is the only option, but even with a complaints process it is where you may end up.
