Good afternoon.
Can anyone please help.
My son aged 17 has been overseas and now has to take an antigen test within 2 days of flying back to the UK.
Is a standard LFT test (results within half an hour) or a PCR test which takes longer?

Is just photographic of different stages of the test all that is required?

Thank you

As I'm reading it a LFT test will be ok as long as there's photographic evidence?
    Is this correct please

when I returned I needed a certificate. Note he cannot just take it himself it has to be done by a provider, and as such a negative certificate would be provided as part if the service

On the PLF he will have to upload the results and give the name of the provider.

In the link above read the heading

Proof for non-EU residents and citizens

    A photo won't do
  • What is the PLF please and where do I upload the results to?
    Thank you

    Still on that same page:

    Passenger locator form

You must complete a passenger locator form before you travel to England.

    which explains the process.

Your son will have to fill in (online) a PLF before he is allowed to board the aircraft

A lot of  it is straightforward but the two things that may trip you up are:

    1. booking reference for  day 2 pcr test on arrival - make sure he has booked one

    2. 2 day before-flight covid test - this needs to be done by a 'proper' provider and a negative certificate uploaded.

LFT self administered is fine if the result is verified and a certificate issued. I used qured.com. Took the test abroad with me and had to upload a picture of the results. They then issued a certificate.

They're doing the testing at the departure  airport so going to use that service.
Thank you for all the information
  • May I ask where you upload the negative Covid certificate to please?
Can't see it anywhere and don't want to get caught out at the last minute.
    Thank you

  • I'm looking any can't see where to download the negative test to......looking here and can't see anything

You must provide the original test result notification. Your test result must be in either English, French or Spanish. Translations will not be accepted.

Your test result can be provided as:

    • a printed document
    • an email or text message you can show on your phone - make sure your device is charged

It must include the following information:

    • your name, which should match the name on your travel documents
    • your date of birth or age
    • the result of the test
    • the date the test sample was collected or received by the test provider
    • the name of the test provider and their contact details
    • confirmation of the device used for the test, or that the test was a PCR test
