Pet insurance exclusions

Hi all,
I'm hoping someone is knowledgeable on pet insurance claims.
My daughters rabbit wasn't eating or drinking so ended up at an out of hours vet at a cost of £600.
She was then referred for dental work at our usual vet (where she had had her yearly health check and no dental issues were picked up) for her teeth to be blurred at a cost of £200 as they had cut her tongue and caused her to go off her food.
I paid the excess to the vet for the first claim and paid the 2nd vet in full.
The insurer has rejected the 2nd claim as it is connected to routing dental work as per a clause in the conditions.
My concern is that the initial £600 vets bill will now be sent to me to pay as although they had to give her treatment as her gut wasn't working properly, they'll argue it is liked to dental work.
Has anyone had a similar experience?

If the first claim is rejected, you can follow their complaints procedure and if no joy go to the Ombudsman.
A letter from your Vet confirming the first claim wasn't linked to dental may well help.
However from what you've posted it does sound like the teeth were a major factor and the insurance company may reasonably link the two and declare it excluded.0
