Morning Peeps,
I am 2 years behind now in catching up and learning. It is reducing on a daily basis.
I have today sorted my many many t shirts all M&S simple styles with varying lengths in the sleeving for seasonal needs. These are all CS purchases hence the probability the reason of me having so many. I have sized them now as they were all mixed sizes but were in colour co-ordination. Varying from 18-22 in size. A there is intention in reducing this said member a bit again I will stick with what I have got and wear the damn stuff out! I have only managed to remove one item to the shed for DH too from this small sort out. (at least it is a start) This will be another 12 months of the same clothes and definitely conscious effort of only buying what I will NEED not want.
I have many items stored for the past 40 years - geeshow did I get this old?
No point now of getting rid of some of them. They will need a re-visit as I will not be wearing the "young stuff" again.
I remember wearing clothes that my mother had made when she was at school. There was a grey and blue cross over check pinafore style dress and a grey wool dress (that did itch when I got warm) both were of the fitted pencil skirt styles. I loved wearing them. I also found a market stall in town that had very large boxes of original 1940/50's shoes that I would buy on a regular basis. They were all leather soled but some sort of man made tops, definitely not leather. They would end up splitting and I even tried to soak them in vaseline to help preserve them. There again at 50p a pair they would not break the bank even back then
I still love the style, it's just that the hourglass figure is of a lot larger size

It's interesting what a wardrobe clear out brings to light: I realised that, apart from underwear, socks, replacement jeans and footwear I probably have enough clothes to see me out! The only circumstances I can forsee that would require more clothes are 1) if I put on a lot of weight or 2) my granddaughter decides to get married as I don't have anything swanky enough for a wedding, (outfit would be second hand if I need one).
My mission, should I choose to accept it, is to wear everything I own, not just 20% of it!
Hope Mrs and Mr Elsewhere are well on the road to recovery.5 -
I believe that with receiving my 3rd long-wearing wool dress (different color, same style) that I will wear all year, much of my wardrobe is about to go *!!!!!!*. I've been holding onto things that don't really fit or are wearing out because I didn't want to try to replace them. I may ask the battered women's shelter if they need the stuff that doesn't fit, but is still professional enough for office jobs.2023 Fashion on the Ration: Start with 66. Hi everyone,
Sorry I've not been around much - I've been away for a week and my PC is poorly. Its gone off to son to be mended, but in the meantime I have to jump onto OH's laptop when he isn't using it.
Sorry to hear that so many people have been poorly, but glad to hear that everyone is on the mend, albeit slowly! I've enjoyed seeing everyone's handiwork too. The crochet animals were awesome.
I have a spend to declare - 5 coupons for a pair of summer shoes. Not that I really wanted them but I've now got orthotics and of course they don't fit in sandals. I will have to have new slippers too, but the ones I ordered are too lose about the heel and will drive me mad, so they will have to go back.
Take Care,
Capricorn Lass

I confess I have been buying yarn. Not even 'good' yarn in terms of environment, features etc - just cheap and cheerful.
First the two 25g balls of craft yarn which haven't yet found their way into my signature but are not forgotten. Then DH got me 100g of a beige acrylic which was too much like one I was already using when I needed a contrast. This didn't get returned as it was when I had Covid, and now I don't know where the receipt is so I'm keeping it.
Yesterday I discovered a nearby charity shop was selling (new) the exact yarn recommended for the pattern I mentioned recently. I'd held off ordering online as I wanted an idea of the colours in real life and while some weren't so good, there was a really gorgeous yellow and an ice blue. I bought 100g of each but when I looked at the pattern I will need another ball of each. Can't get there till next week now so I'll keep the coupons for the rest in the back of my purse.
This afternoon at a car boot sale I spotted someone selling 'baby' yarn at £1 a ball and somehow bought £6 worth. I had to because the colour combination was what I'd envisaged for a particular project... you know how it is. the thing is, I can't decide whether these 600g count as new or second hand. She had a box full of different makes and colours but all complete balls. She did mention it would cost more to buy it new, but it looked new so I'm confused.
I also spent a whole 50p on the most gorgeous little dress for DGD who definitely doesn't need more but it wasn't any coupons so I gave in and bought it.
Anyway a possible spend on 800g of acrylic, depending on your honest views dear Much Mending-ers! I think it's 8 coupons but Maths is not my strong point.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

*::waves to everyone::*
We';re both doing ok - Mr E is still positive on Day 12, but still only physically tired and a bit sniffly; I've been negative for 12 days but am finding I need a *lot* more rest than usual...
Still, I got a 1½lbs granary loaf and a ½lb white loaf baked today along with the first jam tarts on months - and some cheese straws to use up the shortcrust pastry - do help yourselves!
2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:
January (29): winter boots, green trainers, canvas swimming-shoes (15); t-shirt x2 (8); 3m cotton twill (6);
.
2025 second-hand acquisitions (no coupons): None thus far
.
2025 needlework- *Reverse-couponing*:11 coupons :
January: teddybear-lined velvet jacket (11) & hat (0); velvet sleep-mask (0);9 -
Don't mind if I do.
Love cheese straws.
Poor Mr E, still positive after all this time. I have no idea why it takes such varied times for different people but 12 days is rather a lot. I did get a false positive about this time, when I come to think of it, but it was negative on previous and subsequent tests and, like Mr E, I was past the time of having to isolate.
I know exactly how you feel with the need for more rest - mine seems to come and go and at present I feel fine so I'm hoping it will soon be gone altogether for everyone.
Incidentally, having thought I don't have 'Covid brain'... I do.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
