O/S Daily Wednesday 29 December 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, air feels mild. Rain forecaste for the coming days.
DH up watching catchup tv, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner yesterday was clear up of some items from the fridge with some roast potatoes - I'll be doing a small food sop once I've finished work today, as seriously running out of fresh food.
Feeling better than I was but still washed out and exhausted, hoping work is ok today and not too busy - not sure which way it'll go.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC. It's good to see you back, hope you'll be all right at work. It's dry outside at the moment, well, dryish. Hope it stays that way, the last few dark wet days have been depressing. Yesterday we had lamps on all day.I went to the shops yesterday, I only needed eggs, but couldn't resist going into The W*rks, where I spent £6 on cardmaking items. I love that shop.I also bought some half price Christmas cards at the shop next door to it, the shops were all busy.Today we'll collect our new duvet from M&S and I'll have a quick look through the sale stuff. When I got home yesterday I ironed the few things that were in the basket, so I actually don't have any ironing - I'm determined to go into 2022 without a teetering pile glaring at me from the corner of the spare bedroom where I iron.No more news, but hoping everyone will have as good a day as they can today. It's an odd week, this time between Christmas and New Year, I've always felt that.Take care folks13

Morning folks and glad to have you back starting us off NMLC. You still sound below par so I hope work isn't too manic for you. SCARLET I know what you mean about this inbetween week, I always feel sort of flat as if I am killing time waiting for the new year to arrive. Not that I celebrate it so it's a bit stupid really!!
Word got to us yesterday that quite a lot of relatives on the other side of the family had tested positive on Christmas Day, they had all been together the day before which wouldn't help.. Cases haven't been too high around these parts up to now but it seems they are well and truly on the rise now. DD has had lots of FB messages from friends testing positive over Christmas. I did a LTF yesterday "just in case" but thankfully it was negative.
I had a blitz on the fridge yesterday and (after I had a binge!!) all naughty and calorific food went into the freezer. I feel like Bessie Bunter after all my gluttony over Christmas. Healthy eating is on the agenda now for a few days. (Easy to say but not easy to stick to unfortunately!)
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, poorly loved ones and down in the dumps. Take care one and all and be safe xx

Morning folks.Just take care nmlc!Yesterday I cleared the utility room surfaces. 🎉 It wasn't a big or difficult task but one of those things which seem to grow when ignored. Then I settled down to watch a couple of old films and found myself a bit rooted. My delight for today is going to the tip and a quick visit to the local shops on the way back, not that I need much. I want to wait until Friday to get more for over the holiday weekend. In Scotland we have public holidays on Monday and Tuesday next week, we enjoy a good long celebration at new year.Scarlet- I agree, this limbo time is odd though I found it more odd when I was working. Now it's just a bit strange.Nelski - I'm looking forward to reading about your Butter efforts. I applaud your elf!
My thoughts are with all our poorlies and missing. Happy Wednesday to all.12 -
Morning all drizzley here but not major yesterday was miserable all day and we didn't move off the sofa . Today will be popping to the shops for fresh stuff but other than that we have plenty to keep us going.
Nmic here's hoping you have a quiet day at work
Nelski I am another one who knew but it wasn't me
Hugs to all our poorlies those who are finding things a bit tough and those looking after poorlies . Have a good day and stay safe xSlava Ukraini12 -
Morning All
It's wet this morning, first proper rain this week although it has been drizzly a few times.
I still have DS1 and DS2 and their partners here but the DGC went back to their Mum's yesterday. There's a huge pile of bedding to do but there's no hurry. The WM and TD seem to have been on constantly along with the DW, couldn't have done without that!
We are going to meet up later for lunch with DD and her DF for lunch, the little one is going to her other granny's for a few hours, it will be lovely to have all my children together.
Take it slowly nmlc.
Take care. XX12 -
Hi everyone,
I'm feeling tired, I had a bad night with cramp in my legs and toes. I can't remember who said they take magnesium for it (nanny or taff I think), I do too but the past week or so it hasn't been helping.
I got all the decorations down except the tree which I'll do today, oh and the big baubles hanging in the window on the stairs, I can't reach those so Steve will have to, he'll also do the tree lights which I have no patience for, if it was up to me they would be a huge tangle which would make putting the tree up a nightmare. I sorted out some stuff for the CS so I have room in the boxes for once.
I also fitted the new laser guide on my sewing machine (my present from Chris and Crystal) and it seems to work really well. I put the patchwork blocks I made before Christmas together in rows so today I will sew the rows together to complete the quilt top.
NMLC, good to see you posting, I was wondering yesterday how you were.
Have a good day.12 -
Morning all, it's wet outside but hopefully it will dry up later. Yesterday I put most of the stuff away, lots of the food went into the freezers but now the fridge is almost empty instead of being stuffed to the rafters. I also did some washing of clothes and the bedding from last week. Drying it indoors is a pain though, roll on better weather for some outside drying. I'm also itching to get out into the garden for a tidy up but it's sodden. I'm ashamed of my front garden, it still resembles a builders yard.
Today we will take the car out for a run, poor girl's been neglected since the builders were here when she was only moved from pillar to post to accommodate their lorry. We'll call in on Dad later too as we have a lump of chocolate log for him, we've had enough rich food for a while. He wanted us to order a 24in TV for him from JL but it's OOS so we'll see what he wants us to do. Other than that it will be more pottering around. Tea will probably be a salad 😁
BTW the covid numbers are rising rapidly around here too.
NMLC hope you can take it easy at work today.
Take care all, stay safe

Morning, hugs if you need one. Its very grey and wet here.
Yesterday we went in to Leicester to Dunelm, I wanted to see the fabric before ordering the new curtains. Good job we did, the fabric was not at all like the photograph, so ended up choosing another one, curtains should be ready by the end of the month.
Need to gear myself up for the decorator coming at the end of January.
Spent the rest of the day either watching TV or reading, more of the same today. no plans to go anywhere.
I have some cheese to use up, so think it will be cheese and onion pie for supper possibly with baked beans. We finished off the trifle last night, ust have creme brulee to finish off and thats all the desserts gone.9 -
Morning everyone NMLC take care it’s nice to see you back but don’t go killing yourself for work.I’m beginning to wonder how I have time for work I have never had as much time off and the days are running away with me I must admit it’s been lovely and yesterday I just felt so rested in mind and body I have had a couple of good walks although it’s been miserable and damp and today is no better weather forecast keeps telling me we are in for some high temperatures I can’t find them .I took tree and all decorations down yesterday had a good clean through dog has been walked and I have been to Aldi for a couple of bits but that is it the purse is firmly shut for this year I have got myself a bit of a plan for next year it as to save every penny there’s a few things I want doing in the house and I would like a bit of savings as well also to be more organised I don’t feel as if I do to bad but sometimes I just feel stressed to death never mind I suppose we all do at one time and another I keep telling myself I’m not perfect hugs to all the poorlies have a good day everyone whatever you are doing7

Snoozer sorry cross posted with you, it wasn't me with the magnesium. Could you keep your legs a bit elevated in bed, perhaps using a rolled up towel ? Maybe that will help, sorry cramp is something I don't suffer with, but Mr Fix It does.
