Revolut - watch out for 'free upgrade' con

I was offered the chance to experience a 'free' upgrade to the next level for THREE MONTHS.
-as no one is travelling right now (!) I went via the apps protracted CHAT ONLY process (took over one hour!) to cancel the upgrade well within this time.
They have still charged me for the UPGRADE as I 'did not read the small print and cancel the FREE upgrade within FOURTEEN days of starting it' (!)
-(why would anyone do that??)
They have cut and paste the t&c endless small print.
Does not install much faith with such a 'dirty' trick.

  • It seems like less of a con, but more of a user error.

It's a good lesson though to always look at what you're signing up to.
  • When did Revolut start offering credit cards in the UK?

I'm confused as to how you've been charged for a free upgrade? Surely it'd be free for the three months then, if you cancel before the end of that three months, that's it?

FWIW I was also given a free upgrade to Revolut Metal for three months, they made it clear that at the end of the three months it would automatically revert to standard, and it did.
