Direct Debit with PL2 in the statement line not known

Hi. Can anyone help me identify a direct debit statement line in my latest bank account? It's not something I recognise, I can't find anything helpful on line, and I don't think we have set up any new direct debits recently. This is causing me concern.
The only part of the line which is not a "reference" or a "mandate number" (which is very low, which is worrying) is " PL2 ". I know this is the name of a personal injury claim form, which is every more worrying, as we have been involved in nothing like that.
Thanks for any pointers anyone can give (or refer to another category.)

Many thanks for the suggestion! I am happy to say that after quite a lot of paper digging, it turned out to be legit, but the company had put it through on an abbreviation {grrr} . But it's OK.

Isn't the mandate number just your bank's serial number for the direct debits you've put on your account?0

Could be. Either way, it wouldn't identify the payee.

I too am chasing the identity if PL2 who have now taken two direct debits. What company was it please?

It is a requirement that a new direct debit or a change in the amount is notified to you in writing (which can include email) at least 10 days prior to collection. So, either wait for Crater to return to post who it was. Or check your letters or emails for any recent direct debit notifications.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I had the same problem and I have now found out that PL2 has replaced Phoenix Life as the reference on my bank statements. I hope that this helps someone2

SO GRATEFUL!I saw this on our bank statement today and was lost, then saw we’d had about 3 of these debits. Thanks so much to Riskyspider who said:I had the same problem and I have now found out that PL2 has replaced Phoenix Life as the reference on my bank statements. I hope that this helps someone0
