House Alarm System Query

I'm trying to sort out issues with our Mains wired alarm system. Can anyone help with my understanding of these basic points. Probably applies to all wired systems, athough ours is a Veritas R8.
There is a big back up battery inside a control box , intended to keep the system going in the event of a power cut which I assume is being constantly re-charged . In addition, there is a smaller battery in the bell box itself which I think is intended to set off the alarm in the event of a tamper type situation and will go for around 20 minutes? Is this battery also a re-chargable one and are we talking about the same bell/siren etc being triggered by any of the possible triggers i.e the direct mains, the big back up battery or the small bell box battery or is it a different one for the bell box battery?
thanks

The Veritas R8 is the name of the control panel, it could have any make of bell box attached.
Generally speaking, the bell box battery will be a small set of rechargeable batteries similar to these
https://www.alertelectrical.com/texecom-replacement-nimh-7-2v-250ma-bell-box-battery-bat001.htmlThe big lead acid battery in the control panel will power the alarm fully in the event of a mains failure, the battery in the bell box will power the siren if the cable to it is cut or someone tries to remove the cover.1
