Has anyone had "DWP is unable to match your details": state pension applicn on-line

Good afternoon.

I have gone through the identity verification process successfully with that company and then I get re-directed to the Dept of Work and Pensions.

All details up to that point match for when I have had pension forecasts from DWP in the past.

But I am getting this message below. Does anyone know any reasons for what might cause the on-line application to stall?

(I am within 4 months of retiring).

Many thanks.

Some of your details have not been recognised

You have successfully verified your identity with a certified company, but Department for Work and Pensions are unable to match your details. You do not need to verify with another certified company.

To get your State Pension you need to call us to confirm some personal details. You will need your National Insurance number.

I think I may have the answer. I found an old application form on-line. It asks for periods worked overseas etc. Maybe that is what has stopped it going through.

    They must need more details.

Telephoned DWP on   0800 731 7898   :   for new pension applications Option 3.

Only had to wait for 5 minutes.

The advisor said that their Computer system will only accept us for an on-line application if we are within THREE months of the state pension date.

Their telephone recording also says that now.

I shall try again next month.

Wasn't going to do mine until after the New Year, but tried it today out of curiosity.

Went through no problem.  Perhaps it's because you have worked overseas ?

Thanks for the reply Silvertabby. How may months is it before your retirement date? Are you within the 3 months?

No - between 3 and 4 months.  I received my 'invitation letter' just before Christmas.  The letter was dated exactly 4 calendar months before my birthday, so I'm guessing that it had been automatically generated.

    That's great.

I have not had the invitation letter yet. So that must be why I am getting stuck.

Mind you....my date for 4 months would be December 25th, so perhaps it hasn't been activated yet.

It is so strange applying for the pension. For years we waited for it. Then it was moved by 5 years. Then another year.

And now here we are.... hopefully in my case!

Probably - plus there's an access code in the letter.  Hope it works out for you !

Many thanks indeed. I have an awful feeling that I shall be one of those that will need to chase it up!

It moved 5 years when you were 39 so you had 21 years notice and 11 years for the extra 1 year move !

Silvertabby. Thanks again. It has now worked and that is even without the invitation!

So it must have been stuck because of the Christmas hols.

Thanks again. Your message made me try again today!
