The Mortgage Free in Three - Take 6 challenge (MFiT-T6)

  • I have submitted my update too. I can’t believe we are halfway.
I want to feel pleased that I should still beat my target but a bit gutted that I am overpaying by over £250 every month at the moment but, when my fixed rate ends in January, the overpayment will be eaten up into my standard payments :(

Total Debt May 21 £20,490.44  DEBT FREE DATE 29/7/22

    Mortgage balance May 21 £177,096.19. Now £143,070.41
Mortgage free date. At start of sole mortgage = July 2042

2024 SAVINGS FOCUS - get rid of the car finance. £12,706.25  PAID OFF
2025 Savings Focus - 33.3/33.3/33.3 split; savings for house renovations (bathrooms/garden/kitchen; whichever collapses first), save for a family holiday (probably our last one!) and paydown/offset the mortgage. Total pot = £4238.56

Just updated - Had a good start but progress has slowed since my new fixed rate (higher rate and switching to building savings back up a little). Will be similar slow progress in the next quarter but then hoping to ramp it back up again. My new fixed rate lasts until essentially the end of this challenge so definitely have the incentive as I'm not sure how interest rate will be by that point.

Update sen. more than halfway towards our revised target. We are also saving alongside the OPs towards potential redundancy pot or an extension, depending on how the next year plays out! Thanks Julicorn for managing x

Hi all! I'm just updating the sheet now, just wanted to say first of all thanks to @Sistergold and @amanda1024 for filling in your registration forms, you've got #50 and #51 respectively :) (Sistergold, you've still got your previous number for the mortgage updates too, this is the additional savings pot updates as discussed)

Me again :)Here is the update for July, I also can't believe we're halfway through the challenge! Please no one feel bad if you're behind the goals you set yourselves 18 months ago, it's been a bit of a wild ride for a lot of us and priorities change. Just remember that every little helps, and well done for all your progress already!

PS: @pinknsparkly your previous updates have come through now so I've updated sheets 4 and 5 as well :)

Apologies for late submission of my form @julicorn
The end of the month has somewhat crept up on me.
Like others I'm having a bit of a push on OPs before needing a new mortgage in January! We may add slightly to the mortgage to get some eco home improvements done - this is currently under debate!

#22 slinking in. Our fix ended in Q4 last year and this year has been carnage I'm afraid. The mortgage jumped by almost £300 making OP very difficult. However, I wanted to update my figure here because we have reduced our balance.... just not by as much as I'd hoped. I've tried to update a form but can't see how to do it - perhaps because I'm too late. In case I'm not my current balance is £133,700
