I am not a gamer, so no idea about these things .....
Ideally would like to MSE-It, I know game do used xbox/refurb but is there anywhere else I should look? (Wary of FB)
Anything I need to be aware of?

Your money of course but I wouldn't be be throwing loads of cash at the latest consoles for a 10 year old. Just look for used/refurbished Xbox One (Xbox One S) for less than a £100. Good to be wary of FB but don't rule it out just stick with your local selling pages and do some due diligence.1

If you are intending to play online there are hacks to get XBOX Live Ultimate. Do a Google search about it.I paid £31 for 2 years for mine.1
