Right, so I have decided to do a bit of an about-turn on the LISA savings. Rather than push to try and have the full amount ready for the start of the tax year and leave myself with absolutely no (easily accessible) savings once it's transferred over, I'm going to pay in £400 on 06/04 and then £300/month for the next 12 months. I'll miss out on a bit of interest (c£10/month), but it does mean I get a bit of a head start on building the EF rather than wiping everything out, which feels a bit more sensible. It also means I get the fun of seeing the balance change when I do my monthly check-in, rather than it being the same all year. How sad am I 🤣?
I'm re-posting my 2022 goals below with this amended. Nothing else has changed, it just means I can quote it more easily 👍Money....
* Pay £300 into the LISA each month (with a £400 boost at the start of the tax year to kick it off)
* Rebuild my EF to £4800
Once the EF is complete....
* Save 60% of my salary each month towards the refurb
* Anything else I can spare above 60% to go into the S&S ISA on payday
* Any free money or underspends to be paid into the monthly pots
2022, the year of happiness....* Get out and explore somewhere new once a month* Try out a new recipe once a month
* Try to be more upbeat and positive - and don't succumb to ranting at/about work
* Try and have a couple of little trips away, one UK, one Europe
Sundry....
* Write a willMortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

I get the "little goals" thing. Could be worse - I'm so conditioned I now require a daily financial fix5
-
My daily fix seems to be coming from checking my ISA - not healthy behaviour in the current financial climate 😮!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

I sometimes daydream about topping up my ISA/pension when it falls, back to the balance of the day before. I then fantasise that this will rocket in the next bull market and that I will be richer than Croesus. Knowing my luck we'd get a 20 year bear market7

*Cough* I must admit, part of the driver behind the change in LISA plans was because I'd "found" £500 to transfer to the ISA because it had gone below -13%. Of course, I hadn't really got that spare at all, I just nicked it out of the LISA savings pot 🤣!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

I remember when trump first became president, his tweets would affect the markets and I would chuck in money then. Possibly the most profitable part of my portfolio.
Try not to follow it too much if it worries you. No point in stressing out if you don't have to6 -

Then ignore me please!
I like thinking about how things in the news will affect the value of my investments. Then I will look and realise that I am entirely wrong and then look up why it's happened. For example when Brexit vote happened I was sure I would be down but I was up. It turns out that all of my funds are denominated in USD so my losses were overtaken by the FX.
Sorry for the waffle!4 -
I'm back "up" to -2.36% today, so it may yet prove to have been a shrewd investment 🤷♀️?Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
