I’m glad I don’t have to plan a kitchen for a while yet. There are so many clever things out there and I’d probably want to try and put all of them in there! Definitely worth spending lots of time getting it all right for you though.2025 decluttering: 4,011 🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅

Don’t know about your budget/windows obviously but did you know you can get hobs with downward extraction - so you can have in front of a window (my friend has just had one fitted - it’s brilliant!).
Configuration issues are more to do with the fact I want every conceivable base unit space taken up with an appliance, which leaves me with no corners and no drawers. Also, integrated appliances means I will need deeper worktops (into the room, not thickness), which eats into the floor space. Kitchen is U-shaped, so just need to make sure bringing everything further forward doesn't leave me with not enough space on the bit of the U that joins the two sides (don't think it will be too much of an issue, as only planning on that being a slimline dishwasher), while at the same time having enough of a gap left for a narrow door to go into the corner (not planning on using the corner for much, but want to put a little round sink above the corner space as it can't go on top of an appliance and won't be used for washing up any more so doesn't matter if it's a bit awkward, but do need the pipework to be accessible). Not too bothered about no corners, as I will have wall units instead. Currently have one double wall unit, one larder unit, one corner base unit which is a bit of a hell hole and only used for storing recycling, and one double unit under the sink which is only used for cleaning products, packaging which is then re-used as bin bags, food waste bags, and (randomly) spare batteries 🤷♀️ Also currently only have one drawer, as the second one fell apart a few years ago and I couldn't be bothered to try and fix it because I thought a bit of self-inflicted hardship would make me more motivated to pay off the mortgage so I could get a new kitchen sooner 😀! So in summary, not really upset about no corners and no drawers, as anything will be better than what I currently have 🤣👍! Although have this evening had an idea about drawers which I need to think on (although maybe I'll just have a kip and Gordon Ramsay will work it out for me....)Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

LOL, just realised you didn't mean gas at all - you meant having a hob below the window would mean the hood blocking the window 🤦♀️ I'm such a muppet 🤣Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

What depth of worktop are you looking at? We have integrated appliances (I like the clean/ matching look of everything being hidden) and our worktops are 620mm deep. That gives an overhang at the top of around 1cmI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £203

That's interesting, I thought they needed to be 650mm. Current ones are 570mm either side and 500mm where the sink is under the window, so that one's coming forward quite a bit!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Glad Gordon Ramsey is fixing all these kitchen issues for you …
I gather you can have as wide a kitchen workspace as you want … of course it means some things have to be custom made ?I am planning as wide a worktop as possible on one side so the drawers and cupboards are also bigger underneath - I personally make a mess when I cook and need as much room as possibleDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Yes, you're not generally able to have hobs in front of windows because of extraction. You may not want it, but it might depend on who fits it for you - I believe it's part of building regs to have some sort of extraction now, so not having any may be an issue (I may be wrong too, do DYOR).
It may not work for you, depending on how square it is, but have you considered going for a galley-style instead - no corner cupboards needed and a longer space available.
My kitchen is all about the drawers - they save your back so much!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

No input from Chef Gordon last night, sadly 🙄 And yes, I could have whatever worktop size I want, but they need to a) cover the appliances, and b) leave me room to walk around 🤣! I did think about galley-style Vix, but I would lose out on worktop space which is badly needed.
And this is before we get on to the bathroom 🤣!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
