Good luck for the insurance hunting …. <passes over deal locating bow and arrow> 😉
Can you spare me some of your exercise mojo? Mine briefly surfaced last week and has now vanished again! 🙄

Not sure there's enough to go round sadly 🙄 😂😂 Yesterday I was mostly motivated by a desire to warm up, so maybe you could turn the heating off for a bit! 😂😂5

Evening MSE chums 😊
Funny old day here, mostly spent working on prep for the job interview 🙄 I do hope I get the darn thing after all this effort!! I shall be quite disgruntled if I don't. I am succeeding in my mission to walk into the interview feeling like I already work there, so fingers crossed 😂
Aside from that, I spoke to my mother (who had been locked out of her a*sebook account), and we had a very quick trip to the tip with a small pile of detritus that had accumulated near the back door - the old loo seat, some plastic folder holder things from the loft, a couple of broken speakers etc, plus a load of bottles (we don't have a doorstep glass collection and largely just shove them into the coal shed to save for an epic trip - however the coal shed roof looks to be in danger of imminent collapse so we're trying to take them more regularly instead).
Mr Cheery retrieved two kettles and several fence post spikes 🙄 The spikes will come in handy at some point i imagine. Our current kettle has a broken, unfixable lid, and so boils quite inefficiently, and at some point it will snap off altogether. No idea whether either of these kettles work - but he did get us a fully functional dualit toaster a couple of years ago which is still going strong so I hold out some hope!!
Also went to the supermarket, spent £79 😱 But that was a good stock up with many things that will last longer than a week.
Freezer excavations continue. Today I retrieved two small bags labelled 'boiled potatoes, 30th Dec' which I did NOT put there on 30th Dec 2023, so they have clearly been taking up space for over a year 🙄 They're defrosting on the worktop, but what on earth to do with them?? Will they be in any fit state to eat anyway?? Also retrieved (and ate) and random croissant - no idea how that even got in there as we never buy them. I can only assume a visitor leftover.
Explorations will continue...
Nothing much else to report. It's rather windy here, as I suspect many other places, so we are hankering down, and I have had the dehumidifier in the study with me to try to drown out/distract me from the wind noise. I confess I act like a chicken in the wind - all unsettled with my feathers ruffled 😂
Oh! And I had an 'exciting' (for the wrong reasons) escapade in the supermarket - I lost my phone 😱 Realised in the car park, dashed back in with 1 min before closing time, and the staff seemed most uninterested 🙄 Fortunately I found it in some bushes - I'd hopped in there to retrieve a blown-away carrier bag (of mine 🙄) and it had fallen out of my pocket. No harm done.
We finally got round to botching a fix on the headlight that Mr Cheery drove into a bollard last weekend 🙄 Hoping that will do for now - it certainly seems to work, looks like no water can get in etc. Time will tell I suppose.
Dehumidifier has been on all day, both living room and study (at opposite ends of the house) have reached dizzying lows of 56%. Thrilling times!
Ooh, and our little digital thermometers arrived to rebalance the radiators - I saw them recommended on a thread in the DIY section here. There's meant to be a 12 degree difference between inflow and return pipes on each radiator. The two we tested did have that, but one had an inflow of 30 ish degrees, and the other an inflow of about 22 😂😂 It'll be a faffy job, so it's likely to get done after the interview, not before (and hopefully the weather will have warmed up a little so we can deal with having the heating off while we mess about!)
That's it I think. Working at home tomorrow, with a trip to the Post office to offload these darn boots. Mr Cheery is out in the evening, so I'll likely come up with an over elaborate plan, although in reality all attention needs to be on interview prep.7 -
Mr Cheery just reminded me he also retrieved a pair of headphones from the tip. Rather grubby, but fully functional it turns out - and it seems they are currently selling for £122 (well, a rather a cleaner version 😂😂)8
-
Oooh, result on the headphones! Might be worth selling them if you can get them cleaned up? Personally I've never seen the point of expensive headphones, but some members of my family swear by them.Live the good life where you have been planted.

Oh he won't sell them, he'll likely clean them up and use them (or quite possibly leave them grubby for several years and then they'll end up back at the tip 😂). He does a lot off quite intricate processing of musical stuff that is better with headphones, and they're better than his current pair, so a good find!5

Just a thought, will the hot water bottle cover wash? I popped mine in the washing machine and it came out grand.3

Professional hot water bottle cover. I love that!
Mine just went through once, I wouldn't always bother but there is a lovely llama on it so Definitely wanted to keep it when the hwb itself perished2 -
😂😂 our office is pretty much always cold sadly! And if mine had a llama on I'd definitely be keeping it 😂4
