My father used to quote someone (I have no idea who) over 60 years ago. There's nowt so queer as folk. Never a truer word.

Yes, a lesson I am currently learning the very hard way that with some people there is really no pleasing some people however hard you try & however much you try to support them.
After my DS's big birthday there will be changes.
Enough is enough & we can't all be in the wrong.
The toll on my mental health & wellbeing has been considerable & it's very sad but I have to look after me.
Brutally no one else will so ..............

Glad your meetings went well especially the one that gave you some reassurance. It's a horrible situation when you feel that you've done everything wrong, especially if you can't see what exactly. Like EH I've had a similar situation and at the time I was so upset at what the friend was not only accusing me of but was telling other people about me. It took me years to come to terms with the fact that actually it was her issue not mine. I'm glad you got some reassurance.
With regards to solar panels we've got a large south facing roof and had a lot of panels installed in February. The guy told us it was the biggest residential installation he'd done. Which seems unlikely as our house isn't huge. But there we are. Anyway we love our panels but are obsessed with the app that comes with it showing how much electric we are using and where it's coming from (battery, panels or grid) 🤣Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2004 -
Thanks all xx
I put the oven on earlier 😱😂 65p an hour roughly (including everything else that was still on, lights, dehumidifier etc), so in the grand scheme of things, better than going out for tea! But definitely worth batch cooking (which today I confess I didn't...).
Currently at £1.60 for today (well, since 9.30am anyway), not bad. I think last month's bill was about £54, and we pay £71.23 direct debit. Will be interesting to see how it pans out over the weeks.
Definitely autumnal here, brrr. Rather wild and windy! And I can see us heading rapidly towards turning the heating on... 🙄4 -
I didn't quite get back in time to suggest you throw a black bag over the IHD while you used the oven then?!
I rather think our slow cooker still has a bright future, although even the cost of that - whilst in it's initial heating phase - is slightly eye watering!
Yes to batch cooking though - I reckon it will be a rare occasion when cooking things like ragu that I don't cook enough to produce a couple of "spare" portions.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Yep, we'll definitely be continuing to make good use of the haybox. Although I would have been hard pressed to cook a pizza in that last night 😂😂
Funny old day today. Funny old last couple of weeks really, with one thing and another 🙄 Feeling quite discombobulated.
Mr Cheery has bought something which necessitates collection over near my family at the weekend - he's suggested we treat ourselves to a night in a hotel at the seaside while we're there 🤔 We'll see.
Prolific at £22.22 with another £1.59 to clear.
1P at £15.20 - will we kick it over the £25 payout threshold in the next 10 days?! Maybe...
HW is in disgrace. I was playing some free spins earlier when ALL the squares on the reel got the SAME picture symbol 😱😱 I was so excited, and rapidly started planning how I would spend the anticipated £659k jackpot, clearly advertised at the top of the page.
How much did I win?!
£5 🙄
I did win £39 on another game, but with all the ups and downs I'm currently standing at £5 in total for September. Pathetic!
Mr Cheery has £9 on Prolific though, so whatever happens with Prolific, we're up over £30 between us on that. 1P payout too hopefully, that's £55, and I'll be pleased if we can just keep into positive figures with the HW!6 -
Ah the pesky HW - sometimes promises so much and delivers v little
I did though v unusually get free spins on an offer on Monday and won £500 … - £1 spins as I can’t be bothered to do loads mini ones
DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Ooh, lovely! I do 50p spins usually - also can't be bothered with little ones, but I found £1 to be a bit too up and down for my liking, although I only stick to that for a couple of months, and they were both down over £100 I think. I imagine it would have got better if I'd have stick to it for longer but I couldn't take that level of losses 🙄
I pretty much only do low risk stuff too which doesn't help!
Hey ho, we'll plough on
Off out tonight - going to a gig which Mr Cheery will be joining in with for a bit (he did a bit of singing on the album). So that'll be a nice little adventure 😊6 -
Ooh, just read that NWide has a new 8% regular saver... I was contemplating another savings account a few weeks ago and never got round to it, and as I already have a NWide current account this might be the one. I've got another regular saver with them, one of the £50 a month start to save ones, which is at 5.5% (and I think lasts 2 years, so not up til Jan 25). So we could have this one as well, £200 a month for a year, and you can have 3 withdrawals without reducing the interest rate (although it is a variable rate).
Something to contemplate.
Most savings are in an Ecology account at the minute, easy access, although I can't remember the rate right now. I'd probably try to do the regular saver from new savings, rather than drip feeding that across.
Will investigate over the weekend.6 -
