That's a good way of looking at the teeth issue MovingForwards! 😊 Me not planting bulbs is less about money and more about not remembering... 🙄 I've never planted garlic for the same reason - just not the time of year I'm usually thinking about gardening 😂 A shabby excuse really!
Lobely idea to buy flowers post payday 😊 I do tend to manage some throughout some of the year - we are blessed with various things popping up all over the place here, some of which I've planted and some I haven't. I'm quite liberal with my interpretation of what goes into a vase too - I've been known to have a vase of buttercups at various points as we do have a lot of those 😂
Nothing much to report here. £1.06 on a very minimal go on the Happy Wheel. Picked up my strimmer harness which I am DELIGHTED with. I searched high and low to find one that, er... how do I put this? I have a rather ample busom 😂😂 and most of them clip up at the front, which works fine on all the men in the picture, but I had a vision of a boob sticking out of each gap in a really ludicrous way that would make me never want to wear it 😂😂 Couldn't find a single picture of a woman wearing any of them 🙄
Anyway, I finally found this one, which you just put on like a cardi, then it has a kind of diagonal strap across the waist. Sounds a bit weird, but no boob interference so suits me fine. Of course, I haven't actually tried it with the strimmer yet so we'll see...
Also filled the petrol can and got some engine oil in case we need to fill this machine tomorrow. I'm hoping whoever drops it off will shop me how to started the darn thing... also hoping they do actually turn up! They've sent me confirmation of hire (after me prodding) but have made no request for payment, so who knows. If not, I'll spend the day playing with the strimmer instead!9 -
Glad the harness seems to be exactly right - I do fully appreciate the issue with anything like that and boobage - this is precisely the reason why I decided many years ago that dungarees weren’t for me - see also braces under this category! 😂
Unusually for me I currently have flowers at home as Mum bought us a very lovely colourful bunch of tulips the other day and left them on the doorstep. They’re sitting on the mantelpiece (housed in a rather lovely stoneware jug that a pal was planning to send to the charity shop some years ago) and really cheering us up! We also have tulips outside too - although they’re beginning to go over now - lovely bright yellow ones. I really should plant more as they can be planted relatively deep and then just ignored.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I've always avoided dungarees too - they always make me look about 8 months pregnant 😮 I do have a pair at the minute though, strictly for DIY, and only because they were in a charity shop and I can't currently fit into my favourite overalls... 🙄. As soon as I can get in my overalls they're getting ditched!
Well, unsurprisingly, the tool hire place has messed up 🙄 Confirnation note says 8am, no sign at 8.30 so I rang, and they had me down as a weekend hire, not a day one. 'It's unlikely we'd do drop off and pick up on the same day given the distance...' Well, I'm not psychic - I thought it was unlikely when I first rang up to enquire, but that's what they told me they could do, that's what the confirmation note says...
Told him I'm happy to keep it for the weekend as long as he doesn't charge me for more than a day, and he's happy with it just being shoved in the garage overnight 🙄 (I imagine they'd still want to charge me if someone nicked it though!)
He's gone off to 'see what drivers are available' so if they don't know that now, goodness knows when they were planning to deliver the damn thing 🙄
YAWN. Something was telling me yesterday that something like this would happen... but I didn't ring because I was busy, and because I wanted to trust they'd do what they said.
Hey ho. We might be able to squeeze in a cafe trip since they won't be arriving til later, and I might get of time playing with the stimmer harness...8 -
Gosh, what a saga!
8.30 - me - when is my tool arriving? Them - oops, we thought you were having it later, I'll ring you back.
9.05 - them - right, I was going to drop it off later and pick it up on Monday but we'll bring it in an hour and a half. I'll ring in 30 mins for payment
9.07 - me (to a different person) - I'm happy for you to bring it later if you want - Them - we've loaded it on the van now, but we might get him to just leave it and bring it later, we'll let you know
10.15 - me (to another different person in a different building) - are you coming this morning or later? And can I pay you?? Them - er, I think they're coming this morning but I'll get the first geezer to ring you back
I've come home from the cafe just in case, even though I suspect the third guy is mistaken, and just saw it being loaded onto the van and assumed they were bringing it now, without realising I'd said they could drop it off later.
So I'm not really any the wiser, and still haven't paid 😂😂
Going to get the strimmer out instead - might be quicker to do the whole damn field with it at this rate! Next year I'll be going back to scything it all!8 -
Good grief! They really are incompetent, aren't they! Sorry to hear it
and I hope you get the machine (and don't pay for it until you do, given their track record so far!).

Finally! Payment and a confirmation that they're coming roughly 3 or 4 this afternoon. Could have stayed in the cafe! 🙄😂😂
Still, I now have a rotavator with a scythe attachment for the whole weekend - wonder what else I can do with it??6 -
I hope they finally deliver and after all the hassle it is the most perfect tool for the job and with minimal effort, the field is how you want it.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Thank you all! I have now paid so I blooming hope it turns up!
In the meantime, I've tried out my new strimmer harness 😁 It's pretty cheerful - certainly MUCH better than not having it. You still know you're holding a strimmer... and I probably need to make a few more adjustments to get the length right, but I've done pretty much the whole garden in an hour and the worst I'm feeling is a sore hand from gripping the power switch for that long.
Feeling MUCH better about the world with the grass cut. Goodness knows why. I never would have pegged myself as someone who needed a neat lawn 😂 And I'm not - by most standards it's still uneven, higgledy piggledy and full of dandelions, and there are plenty of bits I've just left to grow long. But
Cutting the main bits just feels like I have achieved something, and I've got a nice bit of space to put a blanket on to have a lie down 😂
I don't know why I'm trying to justify cutting the grass!!9
