Kitchen ceiling extraction unit

Hi
We would like to install a ceiling flush extractor unit on top of our kitchen island.
Not a big fan of drop down extractor hood which is so loud that we cant hear people talking or comes in the line of view.
Normal ceiling extractors are still on the louder side for it to be effective and way too expensive.
So I plan to build one with sleek ceiling flush unit with in built grease filters and the extraction to be provided with powerful inline fan which would be inside the false ceiling-so hopefully effective yet silent and stylish.Already has a external wall opening in place to lay the ducting.
Any suggestions on the above idea and where can I source these?
Many Thanks

Having the extractor fan next to the wall vent should reduce the amount of noise over the island. How much, I wouldn't like to say... One suggestion though - Make sure the fan unit is easily accessible for servicing/repair/replacement. You don't want to be ripping down ceilings every time a bearing needs a drop of oil.
Also, make sure to use rigid smooth wall ducting, and not that flexi stuff. Rigid ducting will have a much better rate of air flow and will be quieter.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions.
While getting inline fan and rigid pipes are straight forward, getting just the ceiling vent with just grease filters (without buying the whole unit) looks very difficult. How best to go forward here?

I fear you are in bespoke & custom made territory with the ceiling vent. You may well find an "off the shelf" solution from an industrial kitchen outfitter. Really depends on what type of look/style you are after.

We went with a luxair flush ceiling extractor with remote motor option.  Worth a look.
