I have decided to walk away and have emailed the solicitor now to indicate that. All the services (mortgage brooker, solicitor etc)will be closed until the new year so unfortunately can't do very much.

Get an email off tonight and follow up as soon as they open to cancel the survey. I imagine you've paid upfront? But unless it's due the day they start work again in the New Year you should get a refund.

Thanks I took your advice....I have emailed them and told them to hold off booking a date for the survey. I then asked them to let me know when they have opened so I can call them to discuss. What I'm thinking is as I have paid upfront and planning on buying before mortgage offer runs out (6 months) I might be able to retain it for the next prospective house.
