Good morning, I hope everyone enjoyed their day yesterday. We had an uproarious day with Dd and her inlaws. The younger children , two 3 year olds and and a nearly 2 year old kept us on the go, we managed a nice walk in the late afternoon as well.We came home at about 7pm, by then the young ones were "tired and emotional" so we left their parents to deal with them!!Despite being really tired my eyes sprang open at ridiculous o' clock this morning, but apart from tidying up a bit, we have no plans.Ds and Dil are both down with really bad colds, not Covid, so they're best off at home today.Thinking of the poorly and sad people, Christmas is not always a happy time, I know.Take care folks.11

Morning all.
Thanks for the thread Scarlet and hugs to all those in need.
We had a lovely day yesterday, my favourite part was watching one of the dgs sat with Steve and explaining Minecraft to him. The newest fostered child was given two guinea pigs, he'd never had a pet before so was delighted.
I need to get up as I have a loaf proving and need to put it in the oven.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.12 -
Morning all up early this morning everyone else is still asleep today is our xmas day as both DD's and SIL'S are coming as it wasn't our turn to host this year . Yesterday was spent just DH and I very quietly which was lovely and we had a cod loin wrapped in bacon when DS came home from work in all honesty i didn't miss the usual xmas dinner so maybe time for a rethink .
Hugs to all our poorlies and those looking after them and all those with worries or having their first year without loved ones
Take care one and all stay safe and have a good day xxSlava Ukraini12 -
Morning folks and thanks SCARLET. We have snow! I got up around 3.00 for the loo and couldn't believe my eyes as there was no sign when I came home about 11.00!! I don't think there has been any more since so hopefully it might soon thaw, says she hopefully!!
I had a brilliant day at DD's and after the usual chaos that accompanies the making of lunch we settled down to play silly board games. There was lots of hilarity. Her ex appeared early evening with the girls' presents and he stayed and joined in! All very civilised and it was nice for the girls to have their dad with them for a few hours.. I am due back down this afternoon with DS and his DP but that is now snow dependant! They could easily walk down but sadly not me and there is no way I could walk back up again. So will see how the weather pans out and fingers crossed it might go as fast as it came!
Enjoy your day if you can folks and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies and poorly loved ones and those who, for what ever reason, are not enjoying Christmas this year. Take care all and be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -
Morning folks.I made it through the day with only a few wobbly moments. Family called from Oz and DM's crossword friend phoned too. He is also feeling her absence tough. Anyway, it's done. The gifts I received were truly welcome. I've never been keen on getting things for Christmas since my days of being asked to make a list finished. 🤭 This year a neighbour spent time chopping up kindle and sent across an enormous bag of it for me, his wife bought me a Dalek festooned cushion, both brilliant ideas. The chap up the hill and his wife brought me a personalised seed tin filled with seed packets. I may disappoint with my lack of gardening skill. I was struck by the differences between what city dwellers and country dwellers gift.I watched Casablanca then White Christmas, ate my venison and Stollen (not at the same time) and drank a moderate amount of champagne which I used to toast absent friends and loved ones. The second glass I used to toast present friends and loved ones. The evening was spent festering in front of the TV watching a lot of festive froth.Today the weather is forecasted to be horrible. High winds have been swirling round the house since yesterday so I will bank up the wood burner and do some more festering. A new year with new resolutions is just round the corner so I will enjoy the end of this year.
I hope that everyone had the best time they could have wished for. Happy Sunday to all.12 -
Morning All
Quick one from me, hope you all survived yesterday!
Very relaxed here, 10 for dinner which was interesting as I found out on Christmas Eve that the oven wasn't heating up very well! We managed, thank goodness the microwave has an oven in and I have my trusty halogen oven so everyone was fed and watered.
Same again today but no neighbours this time, just DS1 and the family, first time everyone has been together for 2 years so I'm really looking forward to it.
I'm relegated to an air bed in the children's room for the next few nights so the bedding is in the wash, will make the bed up for the guests once everyone is up.
Have a good day, enjoy relaxing if you can. Take care.XX11 -
Morning
Lovely day yesterday doing things I enjoy...mostly eating drinking and binging on films. Turkey was and in fact still is a success and looking at the amount left will do a good amount of meals for next year.
Today I will clean the kitchen and get the few bits of decorations down. Tonight will be possibly my most anticipated meal of the season ..a fry up of all the leftover veg potatoes pigs in blankets and some turkey with brown sauce and bread.
I will no doubt finish with loads of wine and cheese sent in a hamper by my great friend ruby.
I did also get a lovely gift from an OS mystery santa ..a signed copy of Butter by my hubby to be James. It gave a mystery to work on but whoever it was thank you you made my day
Hope you all enjoy another day of indulging and fun

Morning everyone had a lovely day yesterday really enjoyed the time spent with the family the grandchildren are so funny and it was hilarious playing some of the games we have had plenty to eat and drink and will be finishing off chocolates and drinks over the next few days and anything else that has calories in as I have my youngest sons wedding in august to be honest if I want to be the size I am hoping to be I can’t eat anything at all until then never mind I’ve promised myself I am on a mission . And we have got snow the dog loves it she was running around like a young pup this morning the same can’t be said of me . Other good news I got a phone call from my oldest son on Xmas day I have never heard from him since last Xmas I don’t know why it’s very hurtful where he just seems to take on these imaginary slights I think the last year one was when my youngest son rang him to tell him he was getting married and he said don’t bother inviting me I hate weddings and put the phone down at least I think it was that it turned out to be all my fault because I had said you can stay with us and I really think you should go that was it he was off on a rant and wouldn’t answer any texts or calls it really upsets me but there’s nothing I can do I just try and keep the peace and let him know that we are always there for him he said he would call Xmas day and speak to us all of course he didn’t I just sent him a message wishing him a merry Xmas and all our love there’s not a lot else I can do .have a good day everyone whatever you are doing11

Good morning everyone,
Hope you all had a good day yesterday. Hugs to those who were poorly or missing loved ones.
DH only managed to be fully functional as lunch was being served. He’d had a lot to drink on Christmas Eve! That meant Christmas breakfast plus all the lunch was down to me. TBF I quite enjoyed just getting on with it. We had a quiet afternoon and evening, snoozing, watching TV and having the odd tipple.
This afternoon we are at the ILs for coffee and mince pies. It’s raining here. Will get DH to drive. Cold meats, pickles and cheese for tea tonight.
Florence – you have been so busy – well done on everything you and the SA have been doing, I am in awe.
Gers – those sounds like lovely thoughtful presents from your friends.
TA – hope the snow clears so you can see your lovely family again today.
Lovely gift Nelski!
My ‘something shiny’ from DH needs resizing – think when I tried it in the shop, I must have been hot! Anyway, I’m wearing it, but will take it to the jewellers during the week.
Have a good day everyone.

Hi everyone,
I am typing this on my new laptop, a total surprise from Steve but a lovely one as my old laptop was on the way out and I hate doing anything constructive on my phone. We had a lovely day, very quiet but very relaxing and easy to cater for only three although we ate rather later than intended, when it's a lot of us I plan it like a military operation with all my timings listed so that things dovetail, yesterday I just went with the flow and we ended up eating a couple of hours later than planned, not that it mattered.
Chris was thrilled with the lego Colosseum we got together with Crystal on. He's already done the first stage of it (it comes in 5 boxes, each with it's own instructions. Laura rang to say that Esben had become very confused, saying Merry Christmas, Happy Birthday when people were opening presents and when people put on their paper crowns he insisted they all sing happy birthday to them (Laura makes him felt crowns to wear on his birthday).
Steve and Chris are planning to golf today even though it's raining. I shall stay here and make the turkey biriani and daal for dinner and Crystal is coming back at some point to share it, then we'll go home because Chris is working tomorrow.
I'm glad you like your book Nels (no, I wasn't the thoughtful one although I did know about it). Gers, hugs from me. TA I hope you get to DS', we're coming up on Wednesday so it would be nice to see a bit of snow, we must bring Esben's sledge up because we are meeting them there.
Have a good day all.10
