Yes I can understand that as well, which brings me right back to my original post about HSBC at the beginning.
If you were paying £100 per month every month as you seem to imply I don't see how you wouldn't have paid it off years ago. Even at 100% APR (which realistically I can't see any high street bank charging even in the late nineties) it'd have been paid off in full in about four and a half years.0 -

I'm not into numbers always having been in the literary world, but I always felt there was something wrong as I never received any reply, but hadn't a clue what it was. Someone has kindly gave me an HSBC website below, so looks like I've found the right place at last ! Will keep you posted !

Well sent off the complaints form ok as pixie 5740 had suggested only to read....
"Sorry, the page your requested is not available. Please try again later or contact our Customer Service Centre on 08457 404 404."
Perhaps it's Christmas Day or something no idea but rang the number given with no reply.

I wouldn't expect a reply on a weekend, on Christmas Day, from any bank.5

I’m also not surprised the bank isn’t answering the phone on Christmas Day.1 -
Given your previous record at keeping track of the loan it might be better to use Resolver to complain. Resolver will help you write your complaint, make sure it goes to the right address and keep track of any replies. It will also automatically prompt you to escalate the complaint to the banking ombudsman if HSBC haven't resolved the issue within 8 weeks.1

Sorry but this is a wind up.....£1900 loan almost 25 years ago with a high street bank, I could understand it if it was with the local loan shark2

Likewise - I can't understand why the apparently intelligent OP takes out a loan, turns their back on it and then tries to hide behind a change of ownership from Midland to HSBC. And further expects the bank to be open on Christmas Day for a routine enquiry.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill2

This doesn’t sound like a loan but in fact an overdraft facility.
Is the £76 p/m reflective of the o/d interest rate HSBC currently charge? Has the payment always been as much as this or did it circa double to that approx 2 years ago when the charges changed across the industry?0
