Holiday cancaltion

We booked a packed tour in September to Barbados with Hays travel boxing day .since we have booked covid as got worse .
The rules in the Country have changed and have curfews ect .we asked to change our holiday .we paid over £4000 pound for this holiday .the hotel said we have to pay £2000 and to cancel and to  rebook we would have to pay £3000.this can not be right

    You need to check your contract to see what it says about cancellations, it might well be ‘right’. There isn’t usually a right to a refund if you decide not to go  and similarly basic insurances rarely cover disinclination to travel- although once again if you have any sort of enhanced travel insurance it wouldn’t hurt to check your policy.

    You need to do this all quickly though due to your timings.

    If by 'packed tour' you meant that it's a package holiday then you should be discussing the ramifications of any changes with the package organiser, i.e. Hays, rather than the hotel?
