    I am hoping
£20k in 21/22 tax year in H&L Fundsmith Equity
£20k in 22/23 in Vanguard Lifestyle 100% Equity
will provide me with 10k-15k growth in 5 years time......
Thats my plan anyway, here's hoping!
Worst case scenario both funds cease?!?! and I loose all my money.....

Is it an issue if you have less than 40k in 5 years time? (A relatively realistic scenario, whereas Losing all your money is very unlikely)

On a side note it’s lifestrategy not lifestyle

Thanks for this. I am tempted to do this....

    Put £16k into a S&S ISA & £4k into a LISA...in effect £20k for 21/22 (as I am presuming its 20k across all ISA types)

Then do the same for the 22/23 tax year.

    Can anyone answer me this....

Stocks and Shares ISA/Stocks and Shares LISA - Are they usually easily accessible if I want to cash in for dire emergencies.
I have read about the LISA charge of 25%. But lets say I put in 4k and its topped up to 5k and then its valued at 5.5k in another year, I then need the cash. Is it 25% on 5500 value, effectively I have not lost any capital as I would get back 4125?

Lastly, I am with H&L for my LISA already, I opened it a few years ago. Do I get the 1k top up straight away? And is that the best platform for Fundsmith Equity in terms of charging?

Vanguard platform is where I have an old Stocks and Shares ISA, not really used but it seems their Lifestrategy 100% is only available on their platform....do H&L have an alternative?

You may want to investigate Vanguard's FTSE Global All Cap Index fund too (or a similar fund.)  It is weighted a bit more accurately as far as the worlds stock markets go, so it is more likely to ebb and flow according to the world economy and doesn't have as much allocated to the UK.
Think first of your goal, then make it happen!

Technically yes, but it's wiser to keep emergency funds elsewhere, in case you need access to investments when their value isn't at a good point in the cycle - don't get sucked into the notion that they only ever go up!

The withdrawal penalty is 25% of the amount withdrawn, so if your investments grow by more than about 7% then you'd still be ahead.

Lastly, I am with H&L for my LISA already, I opened it a few years ago. Do I get the 1k top up straight away?
The LISA bonuses are added about 4-8 weeks after the contributions are made.

And is that the best platform for Fundsmith Equity in terms of charging?
Unlikely, but plug your numbers into sites such as www.comparefundplatforms.com to check.

Vanguard platform is where I have an old Stocks and Shares ISA, not really used but it seems their Lifestrategy 100% is only available on their platform....do H&L have an alternative?
Vanguard LifeStrategy 100 is available on all mainstream platforms that offer funds - HL and many others....
Answers inline above, plus there is no 'and' between 'Hargreaves' and 'Lansdown', i.e. they're 'HL', not 'H&L'....
  • Hey 2 years have gone by, what has happened to those investments?

The performance of the investments being discussed are readily available in the public domain - two years (even when they're eventually complete) is no sort of timescale over which to measure investment performance anyway, but Fundsmith Equity is still below its December 2021 level, so if OP invested soon after posting on Christmas Day 2021, they'd still be in the red....
