Rental electricity supplier

I do have the final meter reading and I will calculate the amount owed using Octopus rates. I was unsure of our position regarding the account being cancelled without our knowledge.Reed_Richards said:Do you have a final meter reading? In your position I would work out how much you would have paid had you remained with Octopus and offer that amount of money to Scottish Canals as a full and final settlement of the electricity charges. And perhaps also direct them to the page referenced by @QrizB where it states that the Landlord should not prevent a tenant from choosing their own supplier.0 -
One thing that slightly bothers me is why Scottish Canals had a business supply in a residential property. Was it formerly a "tied cottage" with all services provided as part of the worker's remuneration? I don't think you can, ordinarily, change a commercial supply to domestic unless the status of the building has been changed with the planning authority.

Octopus do provide both business and residential contracts so I suppose it could have stayed as a business supply, but it is a little odd for sure...

With commercial supplies not being capped, it is lucky the OP had moved out before the ordure hit the ventilation device.

They were renting as holiday let but changed to residential let for the period we stayed there. It appears they have changed again.Verdigris said:One thing that slightly bothers me is why Scottish Canals had a business supply in a residential property.
