Esitmated Bill
Hi,
1st time poster here, so be patient with me.
Received an estimated gas bill, the amount was well below the norm and infact reduced our DD by £20 a month, so checked their estimated amount of useage with actual, actual was a lot higher, realised that the amount they had underestimated would go into the next bill, and if prices go up, as expected, in January or so, I would be paying for "old" gas at a "new" higher price. So it is worth the phone call with the correct readings. Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere

Welcome to the forum.
This has been covered lots of times - most recently here:

It obviously will do no harm to notify them of the correct reading as it will save a possible dispute later - assuming prices do go up.0 -
Yes, of course it's worth letting them know. You will at some point have to pay for the energy you use, and surely it's better to spread that cost over a number of months rather than have them do an accurate reading six months down the line and charge you the whole whack at once.0

I knew my dd was probably way too low for my usage for ages after I moved house but didn't get around to doing anything about it. Will have paid back the arrears (after paying £175 pm) by next summer. Would not advise it!! Give them a call and sort it out.0

I wouldn't worry so much about the paying back element as Supplier will let your spread it over 12 months anyway if it's too high to pay back all at once.
However, you are right to be wary of a price increase. Just remember though, they will amend your current bill if you notify them but they can't produce interim bills to get around this for you. So, if your bill isn't due for a few months you could wait to see if a price increase is announced. If it is, get them to "replace" this last bill which will set it on the old prices. Just remember, they won't want to do that if you get a bill at the date of the price increase as it would then be set against new prices. So, be wary of when to do it.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0
