Barclays incorrect amount

I have just logged on to on-line banking and a cheque i wrote out for £125 has been paid at £225 instead, i have called the bank but been put on hold for ages and at work so had to hang up, will this be simple enough to sort out? Or will i have to go in to branch to sort it out?

Easy enough to sort out, but may take a little while. Barclays will have to order a copy of the cheque. Once that comes through, they will be able to see the amount it's written out for. If it's gone through for the wrong amount they should be able to correct that straight away for you.

For the future though, cheques going through clearing get read electronically, and in this case the leading 1 must have looked more like a 2. Write your cheques more carefully in the future

thanks for your help, it was for my M.I.L and she said i had def wrote it out for correct amount , i have messy numbers so will defo keep an eye out for that from now on..:o
