If your Daughter is sitting / working / reading / watching TV all of this time then get her a heated throw to wrap around her. 50 watts - 60 watts vs possibly 1000 watts or more for the Halogen Heater. You can use the throw all day for about the same cost as 1 hour of using the Halogen Heater.
I WFH and find using a heated foot mat and seat pad keeps me warm during the day even when the room temperature is 13c. Combined loading of both of these is just under100 watts, so it costs me around 1 unit or 21p to run them both for 10 hours. This is even cheaper than running the Central Heating.

I'm really not sure what the answer is I'm afraid other than getting the central heating extended into the loft?
A split air-to-air unit might be the best solution. It's essentially air conditioning that works in reverse. You can get multiple indoor units running from the same outdoor unit.1 -
I think you are referring to Multi-split. I think this is a good idea because the loft is probably be boiling during summer. However the initial cost would be 1.5K to 2K, plus annual servicing etc.Petriix said:
