Statutory Sick Pay

Options
Currently have to isolate for 10 days as I tested positive for COVID - 19. Currently in discussions with employer about how much sick pay I am entitled too. I am on a zero hours contract and my shift pattern varies, along with the number hours I work per week. My employer believes I am only entitled to sick pay for the days I was rota'd on to work but I believe I am entitled for the full 10 days. Who is correct in this situation and how much would I be entitled too?

What does your contract say as regards sick pay?
  • What does your contract say as regards sick pay?
Sorry I should have made clear, this is in regards to Statuatory Sick Pay. The company does not offer a separate sick pay policy and does not mention Statutory Sick Pay in the contract. In truth, my employer first tried to state that I was no entitled to any SSP at all but I have argued against this.

What reason did they give for you not being able to apply for SSP? I'm guessing you earn over £120 a week and have been off sick for 4 days? If they say you don't meet the criteria they must give you the reason why in writing.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....
  • You may be eligible for a £500 support payment from your local authority if you are on a low income and will loose out by self- isolating - check your local council website and this link

Details here- depends on whether  or not you have 3 months continuous employment.
