    What did the final invoice from Avro show for the gas usage?
    With such a low meter reading did it trigger a large refund, and what was the previous meter reading?
    Ofgem isn't going to be much help though, they don't deal with individual cases, and the Ombudsman can't deal with problems with the failed suppliers, but hopefully it isn't going to come to that.

    I was only with Avro from 16 Aug 2021 until 26 Sept 2021 when they fell over. During that time they have billed me for the use of 10.6 meter units or 330 kwh which,  based on the applicable costs, I am fine with and have paid for.

    My issue is that at some stage a proper Octopus meter reading will be sought  and when they see it is circa 14670 rather than what they believe it to be , 1650, it'll create a big problem and, as mentioned by wakealarm, potentially a massive bill.

    For that reason i have written back and ask they come out and read the meter. The longer it is left the harder it'll get to unravel.

    I acknowledge what you say about OFGEM, thank you. I meant to instead mention the ombudsman but couldn't find the word. . I will at least write to the latter to prove there is an audit trail.

    I plan over the next few days to make payments to Octopus for period 26th Sept to now representative of  what I was paying monthly to other providers,  at least that proves I was not trying to evade payment. Just the right payment.

    Those who keep a regular check on their usage are in a better position than those who just send the occasional reading in to their supplier. 
    That's why I take daily readings for electric and weekly readings for gas then I know what I've used each day or week as the case may be. 
    I have taken those readings since July 2018 when a certain company tried to charge me more with an estimated reading than I had used and would have still being more than I used when I left them in December 2018. 
    Someone please tell me what money is

    Agreed that this needs fixing fast, but there should be a chain of gas meter readings which prove your point to Octopus.
    If Avro managed to bill you for gas there will be an opening and closing reading, and similarly the supplier before Avro will also have giving a final bill with a closing reading.
    At least one of those readings should support the fact that there was a mistake and that you've already paid a different supplier at a much higher reading than the one they have now...
  • So. If my actual Electricity reading with Avro when I left was 6322, but my bill which came today used an estimate of 8318 by Avro ,obviously showing that I owed them lots of money! Will it all eventually correct itself if I keep submitting monthly readings to Octopus , I’m still only on 6857 ! Just want to be sure I’ve not lost any money ,to my muddled brain if Avro were cheaper rate I would be better off 😳
