Some good news - I received a notice of discontinuance this morning! (the claim for my own car). @Umkomaas you can add this to your DCB thread!

I will keep you all updated as to the claim with the hire car. Thank you all so so much for all your help so far. Fingers crossed for the other case too
Thread link added to the DCB Legal discontinuation 'Wall of Shame'. You'll get a second entry if they discontinue the other claim also dealt with in this thread.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

    Hi all an update below.

TL;DR: DCB/Highview discontinued for the hire car case. @Umkomaas another for you

Incase anyone is interested for posterity, I received a letter early feb from the court that my WS for this case was due March 6th. My WS was to be limited to 4 pages only and that no in-person hearing would be happening - DJ Iyer would be making his decision based off both WS's.
I also received a phone call from DCB in late jan i think (accidentally picked up the call as I was expecting a call from elsewhere) - the usual spiel of "don't want to waste the courts time, they are willing to settle" etc etc. I said I have no interest in paying, drop hands offer of zero etc which the paralegal on the phone didn't understand which after I explained what that means, she said DCB have no intention of doing that because they feel they have a strong case so they'd see me in court (big chuckle from me).
Anyway, long story short, I was semi-procrastinating doing the WS. Figured it wouldn't take me too long to do as I could copy/paste 90% from the other one I did. The difficulty was deciding what was important enough to include in the 4 page limit. This was on Tuesday. I decided I'd do the WS on Thursday. But lo and behold, I received an email on Wednesday to discontinue, hurrah! I'm surprised they did it without receiving my WS but I'm not complaining as at least I didnt waste my time.
So that's the long and short of it. This was DJ Iyer based at Manchester so if any other Manchester-based people's cases are allocated to him, there's a very big chance he may ask for the 3 page re-written Defence and a 4 page WS.
Lastly, thank you all again for your help. You truly are appreciated and everything you do makes such a massive difference.
    Yay!

    Another one for @Umkomaas

Very good news! Discontinuance = a win.

ANOTHER HIGHVIEW ONE BITES THE DUST!

    One favour please:

We need you - as a genuine PPC victim of aggression, sharp practice and an 'extortion' attempt to add £70 - to respond robustly to the Public Consultation on the level of parking charges and banning of the false added DRA 'fee' that too many honest motorists currently fall victim to.

It will need consumer input (powerful voices) but change is afoot. It's taken about 5 years to get to this stage:
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6333036/breaking-news-government-has-announced-the-statutory-code-of-practice-and-enforcement-framework/p1

And then the industry threw victims' money at it and blocked and delayed it - explained here:
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/79310609/#Comment_79310609

Please now Bookmark BOTH threads and set up email alerts on your posting profile, so that you get an email alert when we post there, as we will, once the Public Consultation opens - anticipated in a few weeks...

We need people like you and your driving family & friends to respond in high numbers!

You have a personal story to tell about the culture of getting a roboclaim 'legal' firm to add a pointless £70 for their own profit, to be let loose to intimidate people.

I am sure you want your voice heard to stop this happening again.
