Boots dodgy website and no cancellation

I thought no probs I will cancel order rang Boots to be told there policy is not to cancel but I have to return items when they turn up and they have no idea when that is, I thought legally distance selling rules are in place so how can't they cancel it.
These were xmas presents so Ive had to rebuy all the same presents else where as they weren't turning up before Xmas from Boots, annoyingly I also had to find the money again until. Boots process the refund.
Shocked at boots online and how poor a service they are.

Their terms appear to imply a contract is formed upon dispatch
Acceptance of orders
Working with industry-leading secure payment processors, we validate your order and the payment details you submit to us before your order can be accepted. Once that has been done, we will acknowledge that your order has been received by sending an e-mail to the e-mail address you provide in your registration form.
Your order is then subject to further validation checks we may choose to make. If your order passes our validation checks we will send you an order confirmation email, this is our acceptance of your order and once despatched brings into existence a legally binding agreement between us.So you are withdrawing your offer rather than cancelling the contract but on the plus side it looks like you can return the goods for free.
Regarding the next day delivery you can complain to the ASA if you think their advertising is misleading:

Poorly written terms and conditions and unhelpful customer service staff doesn't override your legal rights. The problem is what to do about it.If you paid by card, you could ask your card provider for a chargeback on the basis that the goods weren't delivered in the timescale promised. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
