Laying Laminate – Pattern?

Hi all,
We will be laying new laminate seamlessly throughout four rooms – no door bars.
I am avoiding the h-pattern and stairs pattern, as they not only look too uniform, but apparently all affect the structure of the floor it it’s entirety.
Our laminate has all-round visible bevels.
I have read some floorers lay “random”. Start with a full board, get to the end, and use the off-cut to start the next row… provided it is 30cm or more in size and doesn’t come within 30cm of the previous join.
Granted it will be less wastage. But, will this not look a bit naff and all over the place?

I had thought to follow a third step, then half step pattern – looks random enough but has some visual flow. But, more wastage of course.
Thoughts?
Hoping to start tomorrow!
Thanks!

I mentioned this to the joiner laying our 'LVT' as I had the same thought as you but he told me that the 'correct' way was to lay it "random"

If I’m laying floor for client I always ask and nine times out of ten end up doing random however In my own home both my wood floor and lvt are coursed!Maybe, just once, someone will call me 'Sir' without adding, 'You're making a scene.'0
