HMRC sending cheque to Brooksdale ltd ??

If you did not appoint these people to collect anything on your behalf, explain this to HMRC, who are very aware of problems in this area. HMRC have been known to cancel the authority, but only if it is clear that you haven't actually appointed these people.

This scam was disclosed on tv - think it was the Alexis Conrad C5 programme at 8pm last night. Believe the featured company had somehow accessed a signature which had been used as their authority to receive HMRC refunds. Apart from the obvious, I believe AC said this gave the company authority to receive all future refunds as well as the present one. Can’t recollect how it ended up but recall the guy that was affected had turned the tables on the scammers and won out at the end

Looks like I will lose my tax refund because of Brooksdale! I have no recollection of ever signing anything to allow them to make claims on my behalf! I am reluctant to give Brooksdale all my personal information.

Have you had a previous claim for a tax refund for anything?

Advise  HMRC  you have no knowledge of this company acting for you and ask for a copy of the mandate authorising them to claim refunds on your behalf.
