Bodgeloks squeezed past every inch of its life and then a bit more to make sure the connection is terrible.

Dump them and wire it properly or get someone to wire it properly.

What would the 'wire it properly' process be?

Wont be something I'll be doing but I'd like to know what 'doing it properly' is. I'll have to see if I can find someone to have at it.

Buy one of these from Boyes, B&Q or anywhere and cut that blue connector out. Then connect all 3 wires into one of the connectors from the strip. no need to disconnect the battery just make sure you do not allow the wires to touch anything else.
The sensor is made to work off the same circuit as the reversing light no permanent connecting to the battery.

The above connectors will work, a little bulky but a huge improvement over whats fitted.

Spade, bullet or powerpole connectors are all decent and will do the job. Plenty of others available also.
No shortage of connectors for almost any situation.

  • What's so bad about a scotch lock then?

I've had a word with a guy at work who's in touch with an auto spark, though really does hgvs. See if he can sort me out, or rather is willing to, since I know he hates working on cars. Unfortunately he has the Covids at the moment.

Scotch locks have "blades" which slice through the wire insulation (when you close the locks) to make a connection on the metal wires inside. Do this too vigorously and you can end up slicing some/all of the wires which can lead to intermittent connection issues. :)

As above, they slice through the insulation but often they slice through the wire itself, especially if someone thinks they
need to use both hands and a lot of force to get it to cut that insulation.

  • Well if the install & the way they butchered the rear passenger panelling is anything to go by, i'm surprised it hasn't cut the cable in two.

And seems like the guy at work has let me down again. The autospark came but nothing for me.
