I bought a bosch hoover from argos begining of last year, it was faulty but argos said i should contact Bosch, they "fixed" the problem, but it returned.
The engineer said it was a common fault & applied for me to have a new upgrade, it came & was the same model as before. Now the hoover has packed in again & Bosch say its argos problem, argos say its bosch.
what do i do?

Take it back to Argos its is them who are responsible under the sale of goods act.0

Ok. first of all it is not a bosch hoover it is a bosch vacuum cleaner, hoover is a compnay on its own, sorry to sound to split hairs. The sale of goods act states that if the product is faulty and this has been proved by the manufacturer then it is the responsibilty of the the retailer to sort it out, but if the manufacturer has already replaced or repaired the goods then it is the responsibilty of the manufacturer or their official repair company. Tell them you have contacted trading standards and say under the sale of goods act 1974 and as amended in 1979 (tell them what I have just said), then go on to tell them that you have a reference number to speak back with trading standards and you would like the full name and title of the person you are speaking with, dont be nasty, be polite but straight to the point. By the way I am a retailer.0

Whilst originally this may have been true, it is now, and has been for many years accepted in the English language and dictionary that Hoover refers to Vacuum Cleaner....sorry to split hair :rotfl:0 -

You do have to be careful when using these generic names. I know that in the past both Jacuzzi and Portakabin have threatened legal action against people who have used their name in vain. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
whereas normally you are correct, from what i read into this bosch have exchanged the item themselves once and therefore the item the op has is not the one argos sold her and therefore i believe the responsiblity now lies on bosch, however i may well be completly and utterly wrongkitchen_buff wrote: »Ok. first of all it is not a bosch hoover it is a bosch vacuum cleaner, hoover is a compnay on its own, sorry to sound to split hairs. No, it's a Bosch hoover - hoover is a noun and a verb according to the OED, so it's a Bosch hoover.
Also, Bosch should have a capital B in your context, as it is a proper noun.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -

fraid not - as lemmings said it is now a different item to the one bought from the retailer so they don't have to do jack, this is why you should always go through the retailer. However as it's the same model you don't have to tell them it's been replaced...0
