Hi, we are due to travel to Belgium on Tuesday to visit family for Christmas, but with all the restrictions and travel bans popping up everywhere, we are not sure if we should still go or cancel our trip. I looked at managing our booking online and it has the following message:

So it says we can change our booking until midnight of the day before we travel. As we are due to travel on Tuesday the 21st, does that mean we have until midnight tonight, or midnight tomorrow?

Does anyone know if you can change just 1 person's ticket this way? We might decide that I still go but my husband doesn't come, but I'm not sure it lets you cancel just one ticket in a booking.

midnight the day before travel would mean doing it by 11:59 pm on Monday.

Will you (and or your husband) be able to travel to France and Belgium?  I know France has closed it's borders to Brits but haven't heard anything about Belgium.   But if you intend to travel even without him I can only guess that you are a French citizen?  And he possibly is not??

Check the rules - I've a friend who's wife is French so is allowed to travel and so is my friend, apparently, being married to a French citizen but holding a UK passport.

Well we've not been able to get an answer from Eurostar about the French restrictions and if it affects trains between London and Brussels. They said before that travel requirements (like testing) only apply to the departure and arrival country, not the transit country, but this was before the ban on UK travellers was put into place.

My husband has a UK passport and I have a Belgian passport, so if further restrictions are put into place it might cause issues, but we're not sure. The reason for me travelling alone is because I'm currently without a job, so if I have to go into quarantine/isolate/get stuck in Belgium it's not so much of an issue, but it would be for my husband as he's a teacher and needs to get back to work (which is 5 days after we would be returning).

If you google "france travel restrictions" you'll see something about people who are transiting the country via an international zone.  And a similar website about belgium states that Eurostar counts as a "carrier" that would allow travel into the country.  There are also exemptions for those travelling for extreme family circumstances (aka someone very ill/dying, hopefully that doesn't apply!).

But it's such a tangle of ifs and buts that if this is a pleasure trip I would look at delaying it as so much can change so quickly - if nothing else the last 2 years should have taught us all that!

I would certainly continue to try to talk to Eurostar as hopefully they would know by now what's required.  And if you do travel I'd ensure you have all the relevant paperwork...not just covid jab proof but marriage certificate as well to prove that he's with you for a reason!
