Boiler help

I've got a Worcester Greenstar boiler in the loft with digital thermostat (which has built in frost protection) in the living room. I'm going away for a few days shortly and wondered whether this frost protection is sufficient to safeguard the entire system (boiler, rads etc). Or would it be wise to set the room thermostat to say 10 or 12C as back-up so it ticks over should it be brass monkey time.

If the internal temp of the boiler drops to below 8 deg the frost protection will cut in. But to I would go for setting the stat to 10deg

TBH, for just a few days I would just leave the heating as it is, assuming you have it programmed to come on automatically.1

Where do you live? The forecast here in West Sussex is for temperatures well above freezing.
If you have a well insulated house, frost protection should be sufficient.
You could set your heating to come on several hours before you expect to arrive home.A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".1 -
I live in the chilly north-east and overall it's not the best insulated house I've ever lived in. Thanks for all the help above. I'll probably set the thermostat for about 10C just as a back-up.1

10oC is a good call, and chances are it'll barely ever need to come on. At least not if your curtains are open to allow solar gain.

Sorry but we last enjoyed "solar gain" in these parts in 1976!4
