    Thank you for your replies.

I have managed to speak to someone on 119 who advised that we will be issued automatically with a Covid Recovery Certificate on our NHS app, which will prove that we have recently recovered from Covid this they say would cover us if the lateral flow came out positive, if the PCR test comes back positive we need to contact them to have the situation assessed and they would make a decision to weather we need to isolate or not.
Did you actually get a Covid Recovery certificate? I have come out of isolation more recently but my NHS app only shows that i tested PCR positive on the 16th of December. No Covid recovery certificate has appeared. I have since had 2 negative lateral flows but haven't had a PCR test done. I haven't dared to book any holiday yet.

Just been reading up and the advice seems to be that you should not take a Lateral Flow or PCR test for 90 days following a positive result (Unless you develop more symptoms)

This would suggest for me that I can't go anywhere that requires a negative test until March 2022

I heard this too so was very surprised when the Gov announced that people could possibly test negative on lateral flow after 7 days. That made me do lateral flows after 12 and 14 days (but just for  myself, not to report to the NHS). Mine changed back to negative on day 12 (still positive on day 10). I haven't had a PCR.

You will need to test as per Spanish requirements and hope not positive , yes some people do test positive again but it’s not set in stone.
A recovery pass will make no difference as unless things have changed Spain do not accept recovery passes.
The key here is decent travel insurance and hope for the best.
For those querying the 90 day thing it’s exactly that just a thing and NHS guidance.
Its not a rule and never has been it’s only guidance highlighting a potential risk. If you’re paying for private tests which you are for travel you can do what you like.

Spain requires you to have been clear of covid for 14 days not the UK isolation requirements of 10 or 7.

But being clear for over 14 days doesn't help if the PCR still records traces of  infection after 90 days and you can't prove otherwise.

It won't necessarily, it can though.

I am aware that a number of people have tested clear after 14 days via PCR.

  • I travelled to UK in late August from Portugal, having recovered from Coronavirus about 2 weeks before travel.  In those 2 weeks I tested negative on LFT twice and tested negative a third time in order to get on the plane.

On arrival in UK took a day 2 PCR test which came back positive.  I took another PCR test on day 4, and this was also positive. This then created a lot of havoc with my family & friends as you might imagine.  In early August I had quite clear CV19 symptoms, and from then just got progressively better.  By the time I tested positive in the UK I was still on the way up, and doing quite well.

@cwaite I am not sure this helps your predicament, but (in my humble opinion, and I am not medically trained) PCR tests seem to turn up some positive results a long time after the patient is  symptom free.
