Op, why don’t you just apply to widen your dropped curb? Cost you £150 to apply and then you’ll know if It will actually be a long term issue

OK, £150 may be the application fee to find out if it would be allowed. However, if it is agreed then the OP would really need to pay to get it done. Round here that would cost £1000 or more as you have to use one of the few council approved contractors to do the work.

I really wouldn't have thought applying then not having it done was a good idea as that has just drawn attention to rule bending (i.e. law breaking).

I didn’t suggest not having it done - just if they apply for it and got permission they could then pay to remove the issue

The problem is people parking opposite driveways (which is selfish), not the tree.
We have a driveway and the people opposite park on the road as they don't have a drive (1 does, the other doesn't). It's not really selfish, they are parking outside their house, just happens to be across from our drive 🙄.
Or road is narrow, so if we didn't have a drive we couldn't park outside our house, if they were already there.
My husband drives on forward with the T6 so he can swing out easily, is that an option OP?
Backing out my van with the cars streetlight and tree is something i never tried as reversing is much harder with the visability. I could try it i guess but i need the back doors at the house to load up really and i already hit the house once reversing hahaha
Ah OK, reversing in would be much harder for us with the cars opposite (and others cars on the drive), but much easier for us to reverse out due to how our steering works.

When you used to drive in /out, did you drive over where the tree is? Or is the tree now blocking your view? Could you drive in /out from the other way (sorry as a T6 driver/parker also in a residential area, trying to think of suggestions)
Thanks Jax, i will have a look and see what i can do! Think i will leave it there and close the chat
    That went well  :D

The OP hasn't logged on since that post so looks like you are chatting among yourselves.
  • Your opposite neighbour could park on their drive/garden if they had a dropped kerb…..
Could you offer to go halves? £500 to solve your parking problem, they get a half price personal parking space…
