I understand the feeling guilty question if you don’t need the food so to speak. But from my perspective it’s refreshing to see the no need to be food bank user to get the food. There are a couple of initiatives here that are supposed to be that way but the 2 times I have visited I felt I was watched and judged using it and very uncomfortable, one particular one says donations are welcome but not essential yet I was told 5 times where to e donation jar was (it had a huge sign so no need)
I may not quite be at the level of food bank use but my income is very low so it would make a huge difference to me. So please use it on my behalf and save the planet and your pocket ❤️The above is why I use Olio and tgtg, it helps me manage My budget and not worry quite so much about petrol costs.Anyway my January budget went out of the window this week. I had an unexpected house guest which put pressure on the food budget so I had to shop today. I also had 2 unexpected expenses with the car. So I still have no savings! However my second income arrives Friday. I’m going to take £20 out in cash and put the rest away and try to ignore it!So frustrated with things rising in price so rapidly, I can’t seem to get on an even keel.Life happens, live it well.12 -
Thanks for the tips, I too hadn't thought to fill the kettle again straight after. Great idea!
Anyone else noticing the jump in food prices, it's crazy how much things are rising. I'd started shopping at a supermarket who offered click & collect as made it easier for me, but back to L€dl I goGrocery Challenge Jan 21 - £86.15/£36013 -
Hi all. Belleballu, I don't know if you have an Aldi near you, but ours do click and collect now. Might help.

Made lots of wedding plans over the weekend. Still on track with budget so that’s good. Ordered bridesmaid dresses for my girls. Splashed out on those a little (not hugely) but the plan is to sell them on as not likely to wear again and got money back on top cash back so not as expensive as they seemed. Made free invitations online so just need some nice envelopes. Feeling more on top of it all now.
Need to sort a new broadband deal today. Ours is going to run out at end of month so hoping to find a cheaper deal.
Going to rustle up a fridge bottom meal this evening. Probably omelette and wedges and write a shopping list for OH to do either this evening or before work tomorrow for us to try and avoid ordering and spending more.
Hope everyone has a lovely Monday.13 -

Needless to say I bought another variety instead.14 -
Price rises in food are extraordinary.
Not having a car, and being semi-rural, means I have to rely on online deliveries. I use Asda, and many of their Smart Price ranges have disappeared. I have a delivery this week, containing many of our household favourite Smart Price items, in case they too disappear.
Breakfasts here are always eggs (free from our girls) or porridge made with value oats and soaked overnight in water to mean they need less milk in the morning.14 -
Food prices are shooting up. I’ve noticed a big difference since I stopped doing an online food shop simply because it’s Saturday. I have been just calling in when we run out of things, and buying only what we need. The difference in what we spend is huge. I get paid today so will do a ‘big shop’ as we are out of many things, and will fill the freezer etc at the same time, which will hopefully stand us in good stead for the next month.12
