Good evening / morning all.
I've done my budget for next year. My main 3 financial goals are to cash fund everything build a 3 month emergency fund and overpay the mortgage I'd love to get the mortgage into 5 figures by the end of next year.
I'm a little shocked at our predicted outgoings but I know from cash budgeting and noting down all spends since Sept what we are spending on average and we haven't been buying anything extra we really have been trying our best to be as frugal as we can beJune 17 £16,000 debt ~ nov 18 DEBT FREE •June 21 £16,308 debt / july 22 debt free •Original mortgage free date 01/06/2059 current mortgage free date 01/05/204611 -
I can’t bring myself to think about next years budget yet. This years went out of the window so many times I just tried to be as frugal as possible. My main aim was paying of my loan which I did so that gives me more wriggle room next year.I hope thats the last of the rain for a while, my garden is awash.I have made the tough decision that my current chicken will be my last. When she had passed I’ll get rid of anything poultry related, it’s just so upsetting seeing her stressed being shut in even with toys and things to occupy her.Life happens, live it well.11

I've done a draft of next year's budget, but its hard as although my pay-rise has now been approved I don't know how much it will be after tax, NI, student loan, pension etc. I probably won't know that until the end of January tbh, as I'll get the back pay at the end of December so that'll confuse all the figures. I'm also not sure how the government's upcoming budget will affect things, and if the NI decrease will stay or not. So very much up in the air, but at least I can decide how much I'll need to put aside for various things, and to pay off debt/save a deposit etc. Everything after that can be updated as and when I can.Live the good life where you have been planted.

My plan for the new year is to log everything we spend and trim everything down to the minimum. We'd like to put in new shower unit and toilet so that's our first major goal.
We.have guttering that needs attention as well so we need play it tight.
Lots of support and focus on this thread. Thank you8 -

I made the difficult decision to rehome the last two a few years ago, because I felt I couldn't give them the space I would like to in our smaller garden after we moved. I miss them, and would love to have them again, but would not do so under the current conditions where they have to be shut up for months on endI assume free range eggs will become a thing of the past too?6

Not sure whether this is the right pace for an observation but after two or three years of not buying it we thought a jar of Horlicks would be a useful comfort hot drink for warming up chilly winter evenings.
Bought a jar yesterday and have just made ourselves some..
What a bitter disappointment!
The flavour seems to have been completely re-engineered and it tastes nothing like the old formula I remember .
Defi itely won,t be buying this product again. Manufacturers mess with well known brands at their peril in my view!

i have a street light on outside my lounge window which lights up my lounge, i live in a quiet cul da sac But for some reason the council i live in deem it necessary and same council have turned off main street lighting along main streets but kept the cul de sac ones on. Handy for me. I am still trying to wash less but as its going to be mild and no rain next few days will do my big washes. Opening oven door after use to heat room also. No ironing My hair has gone really nice since stopped washing it so often. Tried cooking a pie when roast was in but the pie was not very nice re heated next day so wont be doing that again. Drink water rather than have tea or coffee. I am feeling alot better since giving up smoking and coffee which is a plus no more migraines21k savings no debt11

I think it does help if they have chicken pals, my three definitely prefer to have the run of the garden but they seem OK in their run too together. But they have a very big run to scratch about in and we’ve got bits and bobs in their for them.
