I'm another window open at night person, with maybe a t-shirt nightie and fleecy throw on top of the duvet when bitterly cold.
Jellytotts maybe the safety risk was to one's health from being enclosed in that temperature?2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Sweetlittledaydreams said:but am a bit interested in how it would work to have a log burner fitted because I live close to a few woodland areas and like the idea of free firewood!
Link below to the one I have, but they do have quite a range. I have the large one with a drawer warmer which fills the gap underneath as an additional extra as I think it looks neater and if you search around they also come with back boilers. Mine is about 15yrs old and I thought expensive at the time but over the years it has saved me so much money. I save because my wood if free but I could imagine it would cost quite a lot to run if I had to buy wood.

@Sweetlittledaydreams we have an open fire and use about 4 one tonne bags a year plus fire starter. Like Zafiro ours will probably be on from about September to May, but we use ours as a back up to oil heating. It is lovely to have on and keeps the house toasty at night, but it is a big commitment in terms of time and preparation to get all the wood cut and dried. We usually work on a 2 year turn around as the wood doesn't burn as well when its still fresh, so the tree we had to get taken down this year will be used in 2024/25 and is currently in one of our outdoor wood stores. We have thought about putting in a woodburner which would be more efficient but haven't managed to justify the cost.4

Hi, @Deleted_User. I don't know how to quote, but your post on page two of this thread, says your post on the 2021 thread on the 8th of December shows your breakdown. HTH, mumtoomany.xxxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.6

Hi @Deleted_User. Yes all well thank you. Still have the two littlies, baby improving slowly. He's now on a ward, rather than in special care, just needs to start feeding for himself. Having a fun time with them and the DGC. Pigs growing big, they are booked in for October, so need to start emptying the freezers. Lambs nearly ready for market, hens moulting so not laying so much. Veg growing, but being eaten by rabbits! Hope you and yours are well, hugs, mumtoomany.xxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.9

How strange that ASB and I who are both regulars on another thread have decided to start posting back on here on the same day! Clearly we are on the same wavelength.
We are doing well with our debt-busting, but DH has had health issues and is self employed so there is a lot of uncertainty there. Like everyone else we are thinking about winter and rising bills and the little things that can make a difference. We are going away in September for a few nights but that will be the last big spend for a while.
DH has done really well with our veg garden this year and we have had home grown peppers, tomato and lettuce with our chicken wraps for tea. The car hasnt moved today because I have worked from home and I am still using the £50 diesel I put in the car on 2nd August which I am pleased about.
Off to update my budget and spreadsheet.10
