Me and Hubby are still wearing ours in shops etc and blow to those who think we are weird - don't care there are still bugs everywhere right now. Son and family all got positive tests one by one during school half term week but had nothing previously. They have been so careful throughout the pandemic so it is a real pity. Feel like it is because everyone has dropped their guard and their masks now so we are still being careful here.MazzieD said:@willow_loulou
Hope you get better soon and anyone else who has got it.
Nobody seems to be bothering with masks in enclosed spaces like supermarkets, I was the only one with a face mask when I popped in to get a couple of bits on Monday, wonder if Covid rates have shot up again. Know it's supposed to be milder now but even so....9 -
Having gone out for dinner and disco on Saturday three of the people I saw have contracted mild Covid, 4 of us haven’t. The common denominator appears to have been a queue they were in and/the smoking zone. Covid is still with us.✒️ Declutter 2025 🏅👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

Cases are still 44k, which are quite high. I don’t see anyone in a mask around here either, so I try to shop when it is quiet as I’m still on mat leave.
What @cw18 says is my concern - when we get to April no one will test as who is going to buy one for nearly £6 for a single test? Plus no one will isolate because they can’t afford to not work due to not being paid if that happens or their sick leave counting against them. We may be ok through the summer, but when we get to the winter again it could be a disaster - or if we get another variant.2025 decluttering: 5,283 🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅🌟🌟2025 use up challenge: 416🥉🥈🥇💎🏆Big kitchen declutter challenge 137/1502025 decluttering goals I Use up Challenge: 🥉365 🥈750 🥇1,000 💎2,000 🏆 3,000 👑 8,000 I 🥉12 🥈26 🥇52 💎 100 🏆 250 👑 50011 -
I confess that I'm stocking up on lateral flow tests now. It used to be possible to order a box of them every 24 hours, but they've now changed it to every 72 hours. I'm ordering shortly thereafter......QueenJess said:

I also have concerns because of my job. I'm in contact with lots of people, and my delivery route includes both a health centre and a block of 'independant living' flats. A lot of my colleagues are surprised I'm masking up for the flats, but due to the age of the occupants I consider them to be higher risk - and, if I happen to bump into any of them whilst wandering around the corridors, it appears at least half of THEM are wearing face coverings. So as far as I'm concerned it's as much out of respect for them as for my own safety.

I defrosted some surplus peanut butter cookie dough, and cooked it yesterday ,gosh it was very moreish, and a nice treat. getting through the stuff from the freezer quite well at the moment Tonights dinner is a pork chop dipped in flour egg and dried stuffing and cooked with steamed veg.
I have a rice pudding made overnight in my slow cooker with evaporated milk for pudding
Not shopped for any food yet this month and fingers crossed I will not need anything urgently until next week.
Purse firmly shut and using up what I have indoors in the fridge and cupboards.
I found a dented tin of chicken Korma in the cupboard so as I have some peppers I think I may tip some of it into a couple of peppers and roast it in my Remoska, the other half of the tin I will store in my fridge and have with some rice tomorrow for lunch and another tin will be used up:) I'm trying to use up some of the tinned stuff that I stocked up on before Christmas as there was a glut of bashed about tins in my local supermarket that was left on the shelves. No one seems to want them around Christmas the assistant said .
Not one to turn my nose up I got quite a collection of odd tins of stuff I would never normally buy. This Chicken Korma one was 45p so it will definitely do me two lunches this week
Onwards and upwards chums

I have a strange craving for evaporated milk now
. We used to have it as puddings with a bit of ice cream all the time as kids!I'm off to brave the shops in a minute to get a few things we need and stock up on tins/other essentials for the cupboards whilst I'm there.2025 decluttering: 5,283 🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅🌟🌟2025 use up challenge: 416🥉🥈🥇💎🏆Big kitchen declutter challenge 137/1502025 decluttering goals I Use up Challenge: 🥉365 🥈750 🥇1,000 💎2,000 🏆 3,000 👑 8,000 I 🥉12 🥈26 🥇52 💎 100 🏆 250 👑 5009 -
@willow_loulou Get well soon
Been busy making do with what is in the house to eat. Keeping an eye on the utilities bill as now off the low fixed rate we were on. It has gone up and been 3 weeks and has used all our credit and half of the normal payment already! We do have a wood burner so that is lit generally later in the day. We will survive
I'll get DH to turn off the lights in the shed more often when he leaves the building (there are a few bulbs in there) and does an errand
He is on board with this its just getting him into the habit. Have made good use of the Electric clothes airer and it keeping the room it is in a little warm, we dine and have our meetings and office goings on there and it captures the heat from the winter sun too. Cheaper than using the TD that's for sure.

Where are am, some people are still wearing masks in shops. I take LFT every time I'm due to visit my mother and brother who is immunosuppressed.QueenJess said:

If I have to pay for tests, I will. I hope they make them affordable for everyone.Frugal Living Challenge 2024
