Parking charge notice, 5 months after the offence

I got a parking charge notice through from Parking Eye this week, the offence happened back in July, with a hire car.

I remember the day, but their parking machine wasn't working that day. And it will show on the CCTV I was stood there for about 5 minutes waiting for my contactless payment to go through but it was just stuck on processing and I had a meeting to attend so just left it. I was going to write this to them, but then thought - surely they can't enforce something from July? I haven't told them I was the driver, although the letter is addressed to me.

Thanks.

You'll probably get better, and more specific, replies if you post this in the Parking Tickets sub-forum: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/categories/parking-tickets-fines-parking
Have a read of the Stickies first though - odds on you'll find the answers to your questions in there.  I do know that it being a hire car will make things slightly different, in terms of the time-frame for contacting you.  They will have contacted the hire company first, who will then have passed your details on to the parking company.  This will probably explain the delay in you receiving the notification.

It's also an invoice not a fine so no limits on contacting you, other than the six year limit to issue civil court proceedings.

As said above best moved to the parking sub forum to determine how to deal with this.

And as this was a hire car I suspect the hire company have nominated you as the driver already. (unless you had more than one insured driver)

Post on the parking board for more appropriate advice and read the sticky thread that's there. Also, there has been no "offence" committed, this is purely a civil enforcement issue.

The OP posted on the Parking Board yesterday evening but hasn't bothered to mention that here or thank anyone for their suggestion. Poor show.

The OP is new and perhaps doesn't yet fully understand the etiquette on here.

Many long standing regular posters don't bother to thank others either.
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".
