Unresolved Symbio Energy Final Bill problem of £1,866.00!

  • My final bill from Symbio is incorrect.
The readings are correct, the calculations of energy used and standing charge are correct but the VAT is not.  There is a fundamental error in the way they have dealt with VAT including double counting some of it and omitting to credit VAT on other items.  Needless to say the error is in their favour.
The amount of error on my account is small but if they have replicated this on all other bills then they are all potentially wrong.
I raised it with customer services twice but got the same response each time.  They re-iterate the readings and the consumption but ignore the incorrect VAT.  I have raised it with the Administrator but I have not had a reply from him to date despite sending a chaser.
Has anyone else got similar issues?

That is a very odd error to have, can you post a copy of the bill (with personal info removed) ?

The VAT looked wrong to me as well, the bottom line was correct(ish) though in my favour. I think somehow the problem lies in taking the bill as a stand alone when the VAT calculated on parts of a previous bill which has been refunded needs taking into account.
  • Replying to MWT, you would need the penultimate and final bills plus my own spreadsheet to be able to follow it easily.  Being a newbie I'm not sure how to post those on the forum but if you give me some guidance, l'll try.
  • Just to update my earlier posts, yesterday I received a message from the Symbio Administrator confirming that the VAT on some of Symbio's final invoices was calculated incorrectly.  He agrees with the calculations I submitted for my own account and thanked me for bringing the matter to their attention.

Today I received a similar message from Symbio's customer services. They will be issuing corrected invoices shortly and that will close the matter so far as I am concerned.

    Okay, who wants an update?

    I win!

Using the services of the Energy Ombudsman I successfully got Bulb to revising the handover readings they originally provided to Symbio. This cleared almost all he debt of £1866.00 - leaving a balance of £121.00, or so I was advised by Symbio's Administrators.
Oops for them! They had omitted to include a more than £200.00 payment I had made right at the close of the account. Guess what? Symbio owe me £81.27.

    Thank you and goodnight
