Facebook messenger

I am having a problem with facebook, when I want to read a message and I click to continue as? it tells me that either the user name or password is not correct. How to I access messenger to check and try to sort it out so that I can receive messages?

What device are using to access FB messenger, are you doing it within Facebook itself or are using the separate FB messenger app?0

I get the same result, should I uninstall face book and messenger and start again. Messenger in Facebook on my lap top works perfectly.0

Thank you, I ended up removing facebook and messenger and then re-installing them, working perfectly now.0
