So getting up for the bus isn't the problem, but being able  to get a bus early enough may be  big problem.

He needs to take local advice on this - there'll be extra border/covid checks before getting to the airport plus the additional 'in-airport' time needed - they're not very flexible on the rules Entering Switzerland (admin.ch)

Well blimey I'm going round in circles. He's in the French Alps. He has a flight booked with jet 2 on Sunday from Chambery to Manchester. They have cancelled the flight. Without consulting jet 2, he has booked a coach from chambery to Geneva and a flight home one with easyjet. The problem is if the easyjet is moved to an earlier flight time

Thank you all. Son has booked geneva off his own back and a coach transfer.... Its complicated, he won't be in resort but has an  existing booking by train to chambery airport. Jet 2 have cancelled the flight (and no he didn't fly into France with them)

So now he has made a  new booking by bus to Geneva Airport from chambery to Geneva and a flight home with Easyjet. If this works then the £100 is fine.

So getting up for the bus isn't the problem, but being able  to get a bus early enough may be  big problem. He's complicated it a lot by making his own arrangements instead of asking Jet 2 to sort it
Actually, although you never mentioned your son's age, I assume he is in the late-teens, early-20's band and he has shown a lot of initiative in getting something sorted, being pro-active and not just depending on others.

I hadn't picked up on the Geneva part, and currently in France, so access to Switzerland needs to be checked.  The following may help, but it is not wonderfully clear for this scenario (as it assumes travel from England):

The best either of you can do now is to rest and worry about anything else in the morning.  The things to check are:
    1. Rules to use the flight from Switzerland
    2. What re-route Jet2 are offering
    3. Notify the travel insurance - they may assist with return flight arrangements to reduce their liability and / or confirm the rules to use the EasyJet flight

In the scheme of things, this may have cost £100ish that goes to nothing, but the value as a life-lesson will be way more than that.  At least he tried he level best to resolve the situation by his own resources - not just wait until Jet2 failed him and he's stuck for whatever time it takes.

    Thanks for this.

My son is 23 and his girlfriend 21. They have been in contact with their travel insurance who will cover most of the ski accident costs. There are all sorts of travel costs that they can help with but nothing has been mentioned about the flights!  So son prob did the best thing booking them himself. As mum I now have an anxious 2 day wait

Thanks, he's been doing his best to help his 21 Yr old girlfriend home. She's injured and their flight was cancelled.
